Chapter 68 - Chapter 68

"John, I have important information!"

"Did you decide to tell me what kind of underwear you put on?"

"Pff!"

Liara's snort came out extremely indignant.

"Don't try to change the subject, especially since I've long since stopped being embarrassed by such things."

"Correct, because you stopped wearing underwear. Especially when you come to see me."

"Rude!"

Although Liara tried to show that she was very indignant at my words, I realized by her gaze and the slightly blue skin on her cheeks that I had managed to embarrass her.

"So? Jokes aside... what was the important information you had?"

"Now you're changing the subject, aren't you?"

A sarcastic smirk appeared on Liara's lips.

"Are you too weak to prove your words?"

These words of Liara's made me raise my eyebrows in surprise, after which I stood up from my seat and, walking around the desk, approached my dear Asari, who was looking at me with defiance and a drop of fear.

"Liara, I have so far limited myself to jokes that were perhaps a bit borderline, but still jokes. If you are suggesting that I check the truthfulness, then I will do it. However, you must understand that after this, I won't stop. I won't just check; I will take you and make you mine."

"You only threaten..."

At these words, I raised my eyebrows even higher.

"Liara, you're quite something..."

I couldn't finish because I was silenced by a kiss. It wasn't very long, but it was indicative enough for me to understand that I shouldn't be talking. It was time to get down to business.

"Don't say what a girl doesn't want to hear."

No seggs for you

After dressing, Liara shifted from foot to foot somewhat uncertainly. After the stormy sex, we had moved to my room, which was on the same floor in case I got overworked and was too lazy to go anywhere far. It had everything necessary, including a shower, which Liara and I took with great pleasure.

And now she clearly didn't know what to do.

"Stay the night."

"I don't think..."

"I promise not to pester you—or rather, to do it only with kisses and stroking your butt, but not to pressure you into sex."

"Sigh..."

She shook her head. "But I came to you with important news."

"Oh, come on..."

I waved my hand.

"—I know you well enough that even if you came with truly important news, you've already managed to give the order, so everything necessary will be done. No, you could, of course, have decided that I was the one who needed to make the choice, but then your sense of responsibility wouldn't have allowed you to respond to my jokes and somewhat crude flirting. You would have settled the matter first, and only then..."

"Tsk..."

Liara shook her head.

"You know me too well."

"Is that a bad thing?"

"No, it's good. Anyway, I sent specialists to kidnap a certain Salarian. He, as far as I've been able to find out, was involved in developing weapons against biotics."

"And what's the deal with the weapons, by the way? I made a guess back then, of course... but it was just a guess during combat. We didn't have exact data."

"Well, you were partly right."

"Partly?"

"It really is about the round—or rather, the material used so that the Mass Effect can shave off a piece of it and fire it from the weapon. This material has an extremely negative effect on biotic fields, and as it passes through the barrel, it's also charged in a specific way, and the effect is amplified. That's a very simplified explanation."

"Can we produce something like that?"

"Do we need to?"

Liara arched an eyebrow.

"We do. After all, we know nothing about the enemy, and they might have biotics we'll have to work against. And considering those Husks people were turned into, and what Saren turned into..."

"I hadn't thought of that... but what about Mars?"

"You know I don't believe the Protheans could have made a weapon that can destroy the Reapers. Especially since there are so many holes in that story..."

I grimaced with displeasure.

"—they lost the Citadel, but at the same time continued to develop a device that can only work by docking with it. It's nonsense!"

"I agree, but we have to try..."

"I'm not against it, but first and foremost, we work on the shelters and the fleet. Everything else is on a residual basis."

"As you say."

Liara kissed me and left the room; however, I also set off to work.
