"Good job, Rukia."
The voice beside her was gentle, almost unreal.
Byakuya Kuchiki stood beside Rukia in a translucent spiritual form, his figure faint, as though he were a memory on the verge of fading. He no longer possessed the solid weight he once had, yet the cold nobility and quiet dignity that had always defined him remained unchanged. He reached out and placed his hand over the back of hers, as if confirming, one last time, that the younger sister he had protected for so long could now continue forward without looking back.
"You've grown stronger…"
The words were soft, nearly a whisper, but they struck Rukia harder than any blade.
A moment later, Byakuya began to dissolve into particles of light. First the outline of his shoulders, then the hand resting on hers, then the calm, serene face that carried no regret. The particles scattered behind Rukia like snow in the wind, vanishing slowly into that frozen white world.
Dressed in a pure white ceremonial robe that resembled the formal attire of an ancient court, Rukia stood completely still. A single tear, clear as a pearl, slipped from the corner of her eye. She pressed her lips together, swallowed the ache rising in her throat, and answered with the faintest bow.
"Yes… Brother."
The scene made countless viewers smile in silence, the kind of smile that only appeared when an entire journey seemed, for one brief instant, to find peace. There was pride in it. There was sorrow. There was the feeling that Rukia had finally stepped beyond Byakuya's shadow and reached a place that belonged only to her.
But the relief did not last long.
In the next shot, when the screen revealed Harribel sealed within that frozen white world, many hearts tightened again.
It was not only because of her striking appearance, though naturally that was also part of the reason for certain especially vocal fans. Harribel had a rare kind of charisma among the Espada. She was cold on the outside, almost unshakable in her composure, yet beneath that emotional armor was a quiet tenderness. She was willing to fight to the very end for her subordinates, without hesitation, without explanation, without turning loyalty into a speech. And like Ulquiorra, her devotion to Sosuke Aizen came from somewhere deep, almost absolute.
Watching a beloved character fall at the hands of another beloved character was not easy to accept.
Then, a sharp crack broke the silence.
The pillar of ice created by Rukia's execution split from top to bottom and collapsed into crystalline fragments. Light scattered across the shards on the ground as though the battlefield itself had shattered.
Yet what Rukia and Renji saw next left them utterly stunned.
Harribel's body, which should have been sealed inside the ice, had disappeared without leaving a single trace.
"What… what is going on? Was it one of her abilities?!" Renji asked, unable to hide his shock.
Rukia stared at the empty space left within the broken ice. Her expression remained serious, but there was real unease in her eyes.
"No. When my attack struck her, I clearly sensed it through her spiritual pressure… she was dead. There was no doubt. But then… why?"
The question hung heavily between them, too important to ignore and too urgent to solve. For a few seconds, both of them remained trapped by that inexplicable absence, as if the battlefield itself had left behind an unanswered mystery.
Renji was the first to break the silence.
"We don't have time to think about this now. We need to get to Aizen."
Rukia took a deep breath and nodded.
"Right."
The two of them rushed together toward the inner hall of the Soul King Palace.
Seeing the backs of the childhood friends as they departed, many viewers finally released the breath they had not even realized they were holding. No one knew exactly what had happened, but if Harribel might still be alive, that alone was enough to keep many hearts from sinking completely.
Meanwhile, elsewhere on the battlefield, the last of the Espada let out a roar filled with resentment.
"In the end… at least you'll die with me!"
Barragan, consumed by desperate fury, unleashed his final curse against the world that had humiliated him. Before that, Retsu Unohana had already made a brutal and precise decision: she cut off Kenpachi's arm, half-corroded by Barragan's breath of death, and hid it with a binding technique. Then she lured the enemy into the trap she had prepared, forcing him to taste the horror of his own power.
In the final moments of his life, Barragan hurled the massive axe in his hand.
For one instant, everyone believed his target was Unohana.
But the blade passed roughly half a meter beside her, cutting through the air at her flank, and flew straight toward the inner hall of the Soul King Palace.
Straight toward Sosuke Aizen.
The scene then sank into memories, revealing the origin of Barragan's hatred. Once treated as the absolute king of his domain, Barragan had been reduced by Aizen to nothing more than a piece on a board. The pride of a sovereign had been trampled with cruel serenity, and that humiliation, more than death itself, had become the wound that never healed.
"King of Hueco Mundo… in the end, you were nothing more than a small existence terrified of death, desperately trying to escape aging."
Retsu Unohana slowly returned her sword to its sheath with an almost frightening calm.
It was then that Rukia and Renji arrived in haste.
"Captain Unohana!"
Seeing the two of them return alive, Unohana showed a gentle smile, rare and deeply human.
"I'm glad the two of you are safe."
But that tenderness lasted only half a second.
In the next moment, the smile vanished, replaced by a cold and implacable killing intent. Unohana raised her gaze toward the great hall of the Soul King Palace.
"Now… only the final enemy remains."
Rukia and Renji, as part of the main group, also grew solemn. There was no retreat left. No other battlefield, no detour, no intermediate sacrifice. Every blade, every loss, and every path had converged on this single point.
Come.
Sosuke Aizen.
The first episode of the new update ended there.
For a long time, many viewers remained sprawled on their sofas, unable to return immediately to reality. Their breathing was still heavy, their chests still tight. With this, the Espada had been completely defeated. And finally, the blades of the main group were close enough to reach Aizen.
Now, at last, the true final battle was about to begin.
Once they managed to recover, fans around the world immediately clicked into the next episode.
Facing Rukia, Renji, and Unohana, who had finally arrived before him, Aizen continued to smile as always. Neither the fall of the last three Espada, nor the advance of his enemies, nor the proximity of the final confrontation seemed to produce even the slightest trace of fear in him. Not even tension.
"So you've arrived. Rukia Kuchiki, Renji Abarai, Captain Unohana…"
His tone was serene, almost cordial.
"In that case, would you prefer to wait until Ichigo arrives before we begin? I don't mind. We still have time."
The atmosphere, which moments earlier had been so oppressive that the audience could barely breathe, was cut apart by that one line, delivered with such familiar arrogance that many viewers nearly lost their composure.
It was him.
The same Aizen as always.
The same formula, the same flavor, the same absurd confidence of a man who seemed incapable of considering his own defeat even as a possibility.
"Someone like you… we're enough!" Renji roared.
He was the first to attack. Raising his blade with violent force, he charged forward, releasing his spiritual pressure in a fierce explosion.
"Two Kings Zabimaru!"
The energy roared and took the form of a massive serpent's head, opening enormous fangs as if it intended to swallow Aizen whole.
Aizen watched its approach with a calm smile.
"What a nostalgic sight, Renji. A year ago, you also tried to attack me like this, didn't you? Back when you attempted to save Rukia."
"I'm not the same as I was back then!" Renji shouted, his eyes burning with rage.
The spiritual serpent
