Fin's body was rigid beside her, every muscle coiled tight. Serena felt it before she was fully awake.
His fingers twitched against her skin, gripping tighter, then releasing. A sound tore from his throat. Something between a whimper and a growl.
He was dreaming. And it wasn't a good one.
"Fin?" Serena sat up slightly, her hand finding his chest. She could feel his heart racing beneath her palm. "Hey ... it's just a dream. I'm here."
His eyes flew open. For a moment, he didn't seem to know where he was.
She wiped the tear from his cheek with her thumb. "It's okay," she whispered.
Her lips were on his before he could process what she'd just seen.
What she didn't see was his eyes surging molten gold. His wolf rising to the surface, raw and unchained.
His tongue slid past her lips, fully into her mouth, and he was on top of her in one heartbeat. The kiss was desperate, consuming, like he was trying to prove to himself that she was real. That she was here.
