I stepped back slowly until my back hit the edge of the wall.
"I didn't mean to trespass," I said quickly. "I was just looking for somewhere to hide."
Adrien didn't move. He just watched me with the eyes of a hawk. Never ever thought he looked menacing. With his amber colored eyes and charismatic demeanor, it was impossible to associate alpha Adrien with anything like the image he currently looked like.
He was still the same Adrien, but there was something menacing and despicably evil about his aura. It was like the air wasn't just filled with the smell of rotting flesh but something even more disturbing.
"What did you see?" he asked.
Almost immediately, a voice snapped inside me. Must be Syrus.
Lie. Don't let him know you saw it.
I swallowed hard.
"I didn't see anything," I said. "It just smelled bad in there. That's all."
Adrien studied me for a while. Then he smiled.
