Ezra
It felt like my heart stopped beating.
For a second, I just sat there staring at Seris, waiting for her to laugh and tell me she was joking. That this was one of those stupid misunderstandings that would make sense in a minute.
But she didn't laugh. There was no humor on her face, coupled with the fact that Seris wasn't the type to joke around so I knew, I knew she was being serious.
I swallowed hard.
"You mean that?" I asked quietly. My voice didn't even sound like me. "What you just said… you mean it?"
Seris looked down for a second before nodding.
"Yes, young master."
"No," I said, shaking my head. "No, you're wrong."
"I'm not." Her voice was soft, almost careful, like she was scared I might do something to her for revealing this information to me.
"Everyone in the castle knows. That's why Alpha Allen ordered us to move you back here."
I stared at her.
Nothing made sense.
Allen wouldn't do that.
He just wouldn't.
Not after everything.
