Ezra
I stared at the black talisman in Allen's hand and my legs gave out. I fell to the floor in anguish. How didn't I spot this on time? If I wasn't so selfish I would have known much earlier and tried to do something about it but instead, I completely missed it. Syrus is gone. Just like that? There must be a way! There has to be a way to bring him back!
Over these past few months, he's been the reason why I'm still alive. We've become more than acquaintances. We've become friends, pals, family. He couldn't have disappeared, just like that?
Allen dropped the talisman onto the table with a clatter and rushed over, dropping to his knees beside me. "Ezra, is everything okay? Talk to me. Don't worry about the spell, I'll find a way to take care of it."
I couldn't hold it in anymore. Tears started pouring down my face. "It's all my fault," I choked out. "Everything… it's all because of me."
