The moment I realized he was truly gone, my chest went tight.
"Have any of you seen Ezra?" I barked at the guards stationed near the east wing. They shook their heads, confusion written all over their faces. This wasn't good at all.
"Search every corner of this palace. Now." My voice came out harder than I meant it to, but I didn't have time to soften it. I turned to find the attendants I'd stationed outside his room, the ones who were supposed to watch him while I handled things in the royal council room. They were nowhere in sight either.
