Chapter 33 - CHAPTER 33: TALES OF THE DIVINE BUTCHER

Valdis stood in shock, looking at Nyxaria, who had a smile on her face despite her condition.

Finally, his brain registered her condition at the moment. Taking a better look at her, he frowned and asked.

"What's wrong? You look sick."

"It's nothing much, I just used a lot of soul power, but I'll be back to normal in a few days," she replied

"Did you expend it transferring that into my head?" he asked

Nyxaria nodded in affirmation. Seeing this, he chuckled while shaking his head

"You put yourself in danger just to prove a point," Valdis said

"I wouldn't put it that way, and besides, I'm a divine realm soul; it will take more than that to significantly drain me of soul power," she replied

Valdis didn't believe her but didn't speak about it

"So what technique did you transfer into my head that looked so brutal. I felt like I was drowning in blood. The killing intent the technique extrudes is terrifying and feels unstoppable. It's like the creator of this technique wanted to extinguish all life, and if the heavens tried to stop him."

At this point, Valdis took a deep breath, recalling the horrifying and brutal scenes he'd just seen, and continued.

"The creator of this technique planned on killing the heavens should it block his path. That's insane."

Nyxaria, seeing Valdis' reaction, let out a hearty laugh before she asked

"Do you find the technique extreme? and the owner of the technique is mad."

"You speak as though it's normal for a man to dream about killing the heavens."

Hearing his reply, Nyxaria scoffed.

"This is the problem with everyone in this era: you're all too soft. In my time, there were a lot of people who dared to stand against the heavens; that's the reason the number of ascendants in my time was numerous, unlike today, where everyone is afraid of death and would rather live a life of mediocrity than die trying to be great," she said

Valdis heard the shift in tone and was stunned; he didn't expect his question to elicit such a reaction from her.

"So people like the creator of this technique were normal occurrences in your era?" he asked.

Nyxaria wanted to say something, but paused for a moment before she spoke

"Well, no, no one else could compare to the creator of that technique in any way or form; he was that special."

Valdis agreed with her, knowing that if people like that were common occurrences in her era, then staying alive back then would be quite difficult.

"But who's the madman that created this technique anyway?"

"The person who created that technique was a human called Elias, but popularly known as the Divine Butcher."

At the mention of that name, Valdis, who had been smiling, suddenly choked on air and started coughing. After that, he looked at Nyxaria with an incredulous expression as he knew the terrifying history associated with that name.

When he finally realized that she wasn't joking, his face instantly turned pale.

"You mean to tell me that The Divine Butcher created this technique, and we are talking about the one who nearly caused the extinction of his entire race with his own two hands. That Divine Butcher," he asked in shock

Nyxaria nodded and said, "Yes, little one, it's your fortune that you obtained the legacy of Elias the butcher; you should be grateful."

Hearing her, Valdis' mind instantly snapped.

"Grateful my foot, I don't want such fortune, and I don't think anyone in their right senses will want such fortune. Why the hell will you put that madman's murderous technique in my head? No wonder the technique had such a suffocating amount of killing intent."

Seeing his reaction, Nyxaria burst into laughter again, and Valdis, seeing his words did not affect her, finally calmed down and sighed. Soon enough, Nyxaria stopped laughing and asked.

"Do you know the story of how Elias became the Divine Butcher?"

Valdis scoffed and replied, "Who doesn't?"

"Ohh, tell me," Nyxaria said with a mocking expression on her face

Valdis, seeing her expression, felt like punching her in the face, but he held himself back because he knew that was impossible.

"Everyone knows the story of the Divine Butcher. According to the books I read, it said he was a man who practiced an evil sword technique, which, although it granted him extreme power, robbed him of his sanity, turning him into a bloodthirsty beast, " Valdis said

Hearing what he said, Nyxaria burst into laughter again, making Valdis feel helpless against her antics.

"What's so funny?" Valdis finally couldn't take it and asked.

"What's funny is the fact that you believe that nonsense. Let me tell you what really happened. Elias was an extremely talented young man who grew up to eventually become the patriarch of a clan that was not so powerful. Elias situation was similar to your father's current situation, but the difference was that he didn't have a clan as powerful as the Ebonharts backing him."

"That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen," Valdis said

Hearing this, Nyxaria sighed and said, "And that disaster did happen. One day, the King sent him on a mission and also sent assassins to kill him on his way. At the same time, he mobilized the royal guard to capture every member of his clan, accusing him of treason." Upon reaching this part of the story, Nyxaria sighed again before she continued.

"The human king at the time took a fancy to Elias's wife and two daughters, and due to his intense lust, raped three of them, and after he was done, gave them to his men to enjoy. The three women were raped to death by his men while his only son had to watch helplessly as his mother and two sisters were raped over and over again.

"Elias, on the other hand, escaped death due to the king underestimating his strength. He killed every assassin the king sent after him. But when he got home, he met his entire clan empty and in ruins. He found a way to locate where his entire clan was sent to, but by the time he got there, all he saw were the mutilated bodies of men and children and the naked bodies of women who had been defiled by the soldiers.

"At the center of the carnage were his wife and daughters; their bodies were naked and defiled, but the king thought it would be fitting to hang their bodies from spikes. But I think the cruelest thing the king did was keep his son alive to witness everything that happened. He heard the screams of his mother, his sisters, and his clan members, and also had to watch his mother and sisters being defiled before him. After everyone was dead, the king plucked out his eyes and left him there to suffer both physically and mentally before he died."

Reaching this part of the story, Nyxaria paused and looked at Valdis. Valdis, who had been happy a few moments ago, had his hands clenched hard, and the aura around him changed.

Nyxaria then looked towards the night sky and sighed. Anytime she remembered this story, her mood always fell. After that, Nyxaria continued.

"When Elias came, he saw the scene. He broke down instantly. The only person alive was so broken mentally that he begged his father to put him out of his misery. Imagine what he felt. He came to see every member of his clan slaughtered, his wife and daughters raped, and he had to kill his son with his own hands to put the poor boy out of his misery." After she said this, the entire balcony was silent for a while before Valdis spoke.

"What happened next? What did Elias do afterward?" he asked

"That I don't know, all I do know is that he vanished for a few decades, but when he returned, he wasn't the man they once knew; he was more monster than man. The killing intent he extruded turned the sky blood red, and he was surprisingly in the Divine realm."

"When he slaughtered his way into the Human territory, nothing could stop him. The Human kingdom deployed thousands of soldiers, and the result was thousands of corpses left on the battlefield. Elias was unstoppable." It was at this point that Nyxaria smiled

"So, in your era filled with powerful individuals, Elias was invincible."

"More or less, but he wasn't unstoppable. Although he eradicated more than half of the human race, he couldn't completely wipe them out. Even he didn't have the strength to do such."

"Who stopped him?" Valdis asked

"Someone who had The Heaven Refining Physique, same as yours, was the guardian of the human kingdom," Nyxaria said

Hearing that, Valdis turned to Nyxaria, looking confused, and asked: "When did you find out?"

"The first day we bonded, can't mistake that blue flame," she said

Valdis nodded and asked, "So how was he stopped?"

The question made her eyes light up. "They fought for hours till the point when he understood that if the fight continued, he might lose, so he made a drastic decision. He started his ascension tribulations on the spot, trying to weaken Elias enough to kill him."

"So, what happened in the end?" Valdis asked

"He split the tribulation apart with his sword, but that seemed to enrage the heavens, and the tribulation came back stronger."

"Did he fall under the tribulation?" Valdis asked

"No, he fought the Guardian of the human kingdom and the heavens at the same time, and somehow he won."

Valdis looked at her in shock as what she was saying sounded unbelievable

"As unbelievable as it sounds, he accomplished the impossible."

It was at that point that he thought about something and spoke

"Wait, didn't you say that the Guardian stopped him?"

"Yes, the Guardian stopped his advance. I didn't say the Guardian defeated him," Nyxaria said

"But he lost the fight?"

"Yes," She replied

Valdis looked at her more confused than when he asked the first question

"How did he lose if he wasn't defeated?" Valdis asked

"Simple, both the heavens and the Guardian of the human race couldn't defeat him, and Elias was powerful enough to actually attempt killing the heavens while fighting another person, so the Heavens did what they thought best. It expelled him from Eldoria."

Her final words made Valdis look at her, feeling speechless. She spoke about it as though it were something normal, but Valdis felt as though a bomb had gone off in his head
