Valdis looked at Nyxaria as though he were staring at an insane person, because every word that came out of her mouth sounded crazy.
The fact that she said The Divine Butcher was powerful enough to attempt killing the heavens sounded impossible.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" Nyxaria asked
Her voice pulled Valdis out of this stupor. He shook his head and spoke
"Do you know how impossible killing the heavens sounds?" Valdis asked
"No," Nyxaria replied
"Are you even hearing yourself?" Valdis asked
"If you think the heavens are all-powerful and cannot be destroyed, then you are ignorant. I don't blame you, though; you are still in the body refinement realm. But let me ask you, why do you think people ascend after they break through the Divine realm"? Nyxaria replied
Hearing her question, Valdis wanted to reply but paused mid-way. He thought about her question deeply and still couldn't come to a conclusive answer, but still said
"Don't they ascend because Eldoria can no longer support their growth?" Valdis said
"That's one part of it, but the main reason is that Eldoria can no longer contain them, and should they use their full powers, Eldoria will face a catastrophe due to the magnitude of power they can produce. So, the heavens try to annihilate them one last time, and when they pass the trial, they have no other choice but to evict them," She replied
The more Valdis heard, the more sense it made, and seeing Valdis' reaction, Nyxaria continued.
"The heavens hated Elias ' technique to the point that it decided to work together with a holder of a divine physique to annihilate him, but unfortunately, Elias was a monster through and through, battling both the human guardian and the heavens together, nearly killing both." As she finished talking, a smile appeared on her face
But there was a part that still left Valdis perplexed, and he asked
"How does one kill the heavens?"
Understanding Valdis' thoughts, she replied, " You can't kill the heavens in the literal sense, as it isn't a living entity, but a collection of laws that developed a consciousness. "
"So, if one wanted to kill the heavens, one just needed to destroy the laws that make up the heavens, but doing so would leave Eldoria in chaos," he said
As soon as the words left his mouth, a thought popped into his head, and his eyes widened as he looked at Nyxaria in shock. He asked.
"Don't tell me that they fought in the desolate region."
As Nyxaria heard this, she looked at Valdis in surprise and replied
"Yes, that's exactly where Elias final battle occurred."
Valdis nodded absentmindedly as the information he just received shook him to his core.
The desolate region was a large stretch of land, as its name suggested. Nothing could live in that place, as the laws there were in complete chaos. It was a place saints feared due to its chaotic nature.
Valdis, who stood in silence for minutes, finally asked
"What's the name of this technique?"
Although there were many stories about the Divine Butcher, there was no mention of the name of the technique that made him invincible.
"The technique's called the Heaven Extermination Sword," Nyxaria said
Valdis nodded after hearing that, thinking that the name was completely appropriate for such a technique
"So, if I practice this technique, I'll be as powerful as The Divine Butcher?" Valdis asked
Hearing his question, Nyxaria burst into laughter again, looking at Valdis like he was some idiot, before she replied
"If you practice that technique right now, you'll die."
Her words were like a bucket of cold water, bringing him out of his dreams and back to reality.
This was a technique that was recorded to turn people into bloodthirsty monsters who killed anything that moved. The technique granted incredible power, but at the cost of one's sanity. And that strength didn't come from nowhere; it was produced after the technique compelled the user to ignite his essence, granting you power but killing you in the process.
"Then why give the technique to me?" Valdis asked calmly
Valdis didn't react much this time because it finally dawned on him that although Nyxaria appeared playful and nonchalant, she was a thousand-year-old trickster who was extremely calculative and never made a willful decision. Every action she took had a reason behind it.
Noticing his lack of reaction, Nyxaria clicked her tongue
"You won't be able to use the technique right now, but you will be able to in the future. When you break through the body refinement realm, you should barely be able to use the first move due to its massive energy requirements," She said
"You speak like that's the biggest drawback that technique has," Valdis spoke
Hearing this, Nyxaria rolled her eyes and said, "If you are worried about the technique taking over your mind, then don't bother, as that will never happen."
"So, the story about the technique corrupting people's minds is false," Valdis asked.
Nyxaria shook her head and said, " No, those stories are very true. Anyone who dared to practice that technique turned into a mindless monster with the desire to kill."
Valdis looked at Nyxaria with a deadpan expression, seeing this Nyxaria sighed and continued.
"I know what you're thinking, but you are a holder of the Heaven Refinement Physique; it's almost impossible for something to invade your mind. The reason I said you would die is that using the first move would drain you of all your energy instantly, but the mental invasion has no effect on you."
"And how's that possible?" he asked.
"Your physique grants you a separate space inside your body which you must have seen, so anything that enters your body is transported into that space and thoroughly refined, and this includes every form of energy, and the murderous aura the technique releases is still a form of energy."
Valdis paused for a moment and finally nodded his head. He also realized that he knew nothing about his physique or any of the forbidden physiques.
"So, you gave me a technique that is basically useless to the current me."
"No, it will be quite useful to you as long as you study the techniques forms without actually practicing them. It will improve your swordsmanship and increase the probability of you breaking into the grandmaster level, and the murderous aura will help you temper your mind, so you won't be scared while fighting beasts."
Valdis nodded and asked a question he had from the first day he heard about it.
"What's so special about the forbidden physiques?"
Nyxaria smiled and said, "They are the three physiques that defied natural order and threaten the heavens just by existing. Each physique has had holders that attempted something insane."
"You, who didn't find destroying the heavens completely insane, have something she finds incredibly crazy."
Nyxaria chuckled, hearing that, and replied, "Destroying the heavens isn't something I haven't heard before. Sure, Elias was an absolute monster, but people have attempted the same thing, although most failed; a handful succeeded, with Elias being the most impressive."
'So what did the original forbidden physique holders do to astound you?"
"Let's start with yours. The original holder of the Heaven refining physique attempted to refine the heavens, making the heavens part of his power. Do you know how impossible that is?"
Is it harder than destroying the heavens?"
"Way harder, destroying the heavens just means you're shattering some laws, but refining the heavens means assimilation of each law and all the energy contained in them and fusing them with your body. To do this, you have to defeat and suppress the heavens, which is a lot harder than outright destroying it"
Valdis was speechless; he thought attempting to kill the heavens was crazy, but this was madness.
"As for the other two, the Heaven Devouring physique attempted to devour the heavens, turning it to its nourishment, while the Heaven Soul physique attempted to replace the heavens by becoming the heavens. And the scary part is that each of them nearly succeeded."
It was now that Valdis understood why the heavens hated them so much. If it were him, he would feel the same.
