Silence fell on them like a blanket, so thick, they could almost hear their own breathing.
Rukiyo's gaze darted around the forest, searching the shadows produced by the trees warily, every muscle coiled taut like a spring.
The air is still, but her instincts scream with warning.
She could sense that something was there— a presence hidden just out of sight.
But as for Flykra and Blank, it's clear that they didn't notice the shift in the atmosphere, so they looked down at Rukiyo, one looking bewildered while the other looked uneasy.
"Who's there?!" Rukiyo called out again.
A tense silence filled the air in the wake of Rukiyo's question, but still, she's sure of it this time.
There really is something lingering nearby.
It's impossible to tell if Flykra or Blank can feel it too, but for Rukiyo.. She can literally feel a gaze boring into her— its gaze heavily scrutinizing and prickling her skin.
