"If what we think this means is true, we can control all of these miracles, not just Dordio's but all three miracles in this blackbox, all 6 on this floor, and all 12 on floor zero, in just a few months I have begun to master the power of miracles, soon Yewlin will become the strongest power in the world," Kulibren says,
After he finishes talking, Gharnem looks confused,
"Why are you telling me all of this? Just an hour ago, I didn't even know floor zero actually existed; now I know more than almost everyone here. About your plan to control the 12 miracles on floor zero."
Instead of answering her question immediately, Kulibren hands Gharnem the two files he has been holding since his office. The first file contains 12 bios. Gharnem assumes they are the 12 miracle-born prisoners and looks at the bios. He sees Dordio's name along with a lot of other names that he doesn't recognize.
"Interesting, isn't it, relative to how few miracle-born are present in Yewlin, we were still able to capture 12 who have committed murder or similar extreme crimes." The third scientist says.
"Now look at the second file, the one you're holding," Kulibren advises
Gharnem places the first file on one of the tables and opens the next.
Gharnem almost drops the file when she reads the title,
"Gharnem."
"This, why is this here, why do you have a whole file on me, I didn't do anything," Gharnem say,s trying to defend herself.
"You aren't hiding anything, ng you know, from the moment I heard about you, I've known."
Gharnem reads her own file, and there it is, the secret she thought she had hidden written right under her physical description,
"Gharnem is a miracle-born with the miracle tiled; Crystalline structure."
After reading this portion of the bio, Gharnem is left confused before she can start asking questions. Kulibren butts in.
"Not much is known about you, every miracle-born in Yewlin is taken note of after birth, but you weren't born in Yewlin, so other than the name, your miracle is a mystery, exactly, why I chose to hire you, but you have given away too much about 'Crystalline structure' already" Kulibren says, as if he's interrogating Kulibren.
Gharnem's heart begins to race; she shakes with fear. Sweat drops start to pour from her skin as she tries to defend herself,
"Sir, I don't know what you mean, I mean, uh, I am a miracle-born, but it wasn't required that I tell you, so I don't understand why I'm in trouble."
Kulibren smiles at her, lifting the mood of the room,m yet Gharnem's stress doesn't dissipate.
"Trouble? You're not in trouble. Originally, ly I just wanted to figure out how your miracle worked, you know, basic research, but from your actions, you have already told me everything I need to know." Kulibren says, in an attempt to get to his next point.
"You thought you had tricked me, but you didn't."
"What?" Gharnem says
"Since you started your job here, I have been directly controlling every one of your shifts, so would you believe my surprise when you got given a shift at floor zero, a shift that I didn't give you, on a floor you shouldn't have known about."
The door behind Gharnem locks as Kulibren steps up to her and continues.
"But it all makes sense when you bring the name of your miracle into it, 'crystalline structure', weird name, from what's known about you, your past life died when a mineshaft collapsed, he saved 12 lives before getting crushed."
"You aren't making any sense," Gharnem responds
Kulibren ignores her and continues,
"With a death like that, and a miracle with a name like that, it would make sense for you to have control over crystals, a useful but still a C-tier ability."
"C-tier?" Gharnem asks
Kulibren ignores her yet again,
"But if I know anything about miracles, it is that they are never as simple as what would make sense, so there are two pieces I have to the puzzle that is your miracle, you knowing about floor zero without anyone telling you about it, and the name crystalinne structure. Luckily, for an expert in the field like me, two is enough for me to understand your power. As soon as you stepped foot in this building, you knew the exact layout, the 'Crystalline Structure', isn't that right?"
Gharnem tries to stay composed, but she has fallen for Kulibren's trap without any way of getting out.
"You're right, but I am able to do more than just that; I can also see weaknesses in both buildings and people," Gharnem admits
"Interesting, you could be very helpful to the prison with that miracle," Kulibren notes.
"So what, you're gonna lock me in one of these prisons, for being curious, for wanting to uncover why this prison is twice as big as what the blueprints say? Use me as a weapon like Dordio and the other eleven souls you have locked up?" Gharnem says, trying to defend herself from what she thinks is a prison sentence.
"Oh, of course not, you aren't a murderer, there's a reason I hired you to begin with," Kulibren says, calming Gharnem down.
"THEN WHAT DO YOU WANT!?" Gharnem asks, looking for answers.
"Oh, I didn't want to panic you. You being able to see people's weaknesses is a perfect addition to our science team here, showing you everything here was sort of an introduction to where you will be working." Kulibren explains,
"That's why I gave you these files."
"Working?" She asks
"Of course, unless you want to be reported as an undocumented miracle-born, in which case, we do have the right to arrest you and use you anyway," Kulibren explains
The fact that Gharnem has no way out dawns on her, trapped in a prison, not as a prisoner but as a tool.
"It could be worse," she thinks to herself
"Threat not," Kulibren says,
"There is nothing wrong with researching criminals such as these. All of them have killed someone or done worse."
"You already said this. I'm not saying I disagree, but why do you need me?" Gharnem asks
"You said you could see weaknesses. Recently, we arrested a miracle-born assassin named 'Silia'; she can turn invisible and take any form she sees. Yet without understanding her drawback, we aren't able to use her powers."
Gharnem pauses for a moment, but she is already convinced. What's wrong with experimenting on those who have committed such crimes?
"I'll do it," She says
"Wonderful," Kulibren replies
"I'll see you here tomorrow," He says as he starts to turn to the door. He pauses and turns to look at Gharnem,
"Humour me for a second, during this conversation, I am sure you analyzed me at least once. What did your miracle say my biggest weakness was?"
Gharnem looks confused but answers anyway,
"I couldn't see one. If I'm right, you have no weaknesses."
