Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Splitting Headache

With Adrian as an example, the training session seemed to have become somewhat dull after he was done.

It wasn't like there weren't any more decent performances, but it just wasn't that exciting.

Take Oscar for example, he was the only other person other than Adrian to not get a single shot off target.

However, at the same time, his performance was the reverse of Adrian's as he only managed to score one while the remaining four were just shots on target.

Noelle's opinion of Oscar was that while he had very good precision, he lacked the shooting power and flair required of a finisher.

He had been playing as a right winger in the past couple of matches but in Noelle's opinion, he would have better uses as a central midfielder.

That was just her opinion on how to use him more effectively, though, as she wouldn't deny that he was also a decent winger; his unreal speed was a great asset that would always come in handy in crucial moments.

The free kick training session came to an end just like that with only a few players reaching her passing mark, most of them barely so.

However, Noelle wasn't disappointed as this was well within her expectations.

She circled the names of the players who still needed to train up their shooting. It was true that the forwards would be the ones taking the shots most of the time but it was essential for a player to have some level of shooting ability regardless of their position.

After doing that, she told them to take a break and do whatever they wanted to do as long as it wasn't anything stupid or illegal.

Her head really felt like exploding right now, causing her face to scrunch up in a frown.

She hurried toward the recliner by the side which had a huge umbrella towering over it now to prevent the seat from getting hot.

She sat down the moment she got to the seat, and with her eyes closed, she began to massage her temple with her left hand.

Eric had found it weird when Noelle called for a break this early, and now, watching her sitting there with an uncomfortable expression on her face, he couldn't help but frown.

He wanted to walk over and ask her what was wrong when he saw a familiar figure rushing toward her with something in his hand.

Seeing that, Eric suddenly paused as his lips curled into a devilish smile.

Leron was walking toward Eric when he saw that creepy smile, and he couldn't help but shudder.

"Who are you plotting against this time?" Leron asked as he took a step closer to him.

"You're definitely not talking to me." He glanced at Leron before proceeding to walk away in the other direction.

He didn't want to talk to this guy right now as he had more important things to do.

"Yeah, just keep pretending."

Noelle had her eyes tightly shut desperately trying to ease the spitting pain she was feeling in her head.

She was in so much pain that she didn't even realize it when Adrian stopped in front of her.

He watched as she suffered in silence and couldn't help but sigh before squatting down in front of her.

He placed the ice pack he was holding down on the grass before reaching out for her hand which was massaging her temple.

His hands were cold from holding the ice pack and the moment she felt that cold touch, Noelle froze.

The pain made it difficult for her to open her eyes but she forced herself to slowly open them, squinting at him.

"What do you want?"

Her voice, although raspy, sounded quite alluring at the same time, something Adrian didn't have the leisure of admiring at the moment.

He didn't respond to her and just began to pull her hand down, away from her temple.

She tried to resist, but his grip was firm, and she couldn't contend with his strength, especially not in her current condition.

"You're already in this much pain, so don't try to be stubborn, you know it will go away faster if I do it, so be good." His voice was low and gentle as he coaxed.

That seemed to have worked well enough as she was no longer struggling.

Without wasting time, he grabbed the ice pack and placed it on her head before he began massaging her other temple with his right hand.

In just a few minutes, Noelle felt the terrible headache going away as a cool sensation spread through her head.

She was no longer feeling that much pain and could comfortably open her eyes now, but knowing that Adrian was staring at her at the moment, she decided to keep her eyes closed.

Adrian saw through her thoughts, but he didn't say anything and just looked at her face, which looked much more relaxed now than it was earlier.

"It's a good thing I was here, or you would have to suffer for a while more, and that wouldn't be nice." He spoke after a while.

He knew because he had once almost gone crazy because of this mind-splitting headache.

"It happened because of you in the first place." Noelle retorted.

"Well, I didn't tell you to forcefully hypnotise me."

"You were being noisy." She scoffed.

"I….."

"Just like right now." She interrupted before he could finish.

Adrian had his mouth open like he had just swallowed a fly and suddenly he didn't know what to say anymore.

It took him a few seconds to calm down before he narrowed his eyes at her.

"Noelle." He suddenly called out, his voice turning stern.

He stopped what he was doing and just looked at her with a serious expression.

Sensing the shift in his emotions, Noelle felt her body tense up, but she still didn't answer.

Adrian didn't care whether she answered or not and continued speaking.

"I thought you would be happy to see me come back but why do I feel like you only feel the opposite of happy seeing me around here. If I did something to make you unhappy, then just..."

He was suddenly cut off at that moment as a voice came from behind.

"Noelle."

Noelle opened her eyes at that moment and Adrian turned around to see Eric walking over with a bright smile on his face.

He walked up to Noelle without even sparing Adrian a glance and handed her the bottle of water in his hand.

"I saw that you didn't look too good earlier so I brought you a bottle of water."

Noelle stared at the bottle of water in his hand for a while as if contemplating something before reaching out to take it.

"Thank you."

To her gratitude, Eric didn't say anything and just smiled at her.

Seeing this overly bright scene, Adrian couldn't help but frown as he sensed a foreboding.
