Viola wanted so much not to think about what Evan had said, but her insecure heart and mind kept wandering back to it even after an hour had passed since she had ended the call with him. She just couldn't help it, because no matter how much she wanted to deny it and refuse to believe it, she knew deep down that she was a very hard person to like and to keep close.
Though there was no real romantic relationship between she and Sebastian, or so she always tried to tell herself, she was certain that one day he would grow tired of her, and rather than discard her the way Evan had done, he might simply kill her quickly the way he had killed his other Lunas.
That thought sent another sharp, pin-like pain straight to her heart that traveled all the way down and made her feel even more sick and nauseous than before.
