"You're still too slow, Tony."
Lucas, Clark, and Coulson all burst into laughter as Iron Man descended from the sky and landed nearby.
"Yeah, well, I'm not one of you superhumans!" Tony snapped back as his faceplate lifted, clearly annoyed. (╬ಠ益ಠ)
Lucas suppressed a smile and asked,
"Alright then—should we go see the so-called Thunder God first, or check out the hammer?"
"Obviously the guy," Tony said immediately. "I'm very curious what the Thunder God from Norse mythology actually looks like."
On the way over, he had already asked JARVIS to brief him on the general background of the Asgardians.
"Same here," Clark agreed. "I want to see what a 'god' looks like too."
Truth be told, Clark was mostly here to watch the show—he didn't really care which one they saw first.
"Alright," Lucas said. "Coulson, lead the way."
Coulson nodded and drove them toward the research facility.
Soon, they arrived outside a temporary holding cell constructed from high-strength alloy plates.
Tony sucked in a sharp breath.
"You're not imprisoning a person," he said. "You're locking up a monster."
Coulson was about to explain when a deep, heavy, magnetic voice echoed from the shadows inside the cell—calm, yet full of authority.
"Mortal of Midgard, mind your words. You are offending a god."
"What?" Tony blinked. "A god? Are you kidding me?"
A tall figure stepped out from the darkness and approached the metal bars, looking down at Tony from above.
"Mortal, the patience of a god is not without limits."
Thor—standing nearly 195 centimeters tall—looked down at Tony, who was barely 175 centimeters. The sheer height difference created an instinctive sense of pressure.
Tony unconsciously took two steps back—only to feel two large hands firmly gripping his shoulders.
Two towering figures, both over 190 centimeters tall, stepped forward and placed themselves in front of Tony.
"Thor," Lucas said coldly, "is threatening an ordinary human the only way you Asgardians know how to display your so-called superiority?"
"If that's the case, don't underestimate Midgard. Earth has its own strong ones—Prince of Asgard."
Boom!
A powerful aura erupted from Lucas, surging toward Thor like a tidal wave.
"Exactly," Clark added as he stepped forward.
"All beings are equal. There is no such thing as gods standing above mortals."
Though Clark showed no visible aura, the pressure he released was as solid and overwhelming as a mountain.
Standing behind them, Tony felt something he had never felt before—even inside his Mark armor.
A sense of absolute security.
'What the hell is this ridiculous sense of safety?'
Tony shook his head hard, forcing those thoughts away.
Thor was pushed back several steps before steadying himself.
"You are both strong," he said solemnly. "Not ordinary Midgardians. I respect strength."
"Therefore, I apologize for my earlier words."
Lucas and Clark withdrew their pressure, and the atmosphere instantly calmed.
Only then did Coulson truly understand why Director Fury had personally called Lucas in—some problems really did require a stronger presence to keep in check.
"Uh…"
With the tension gone, Tony cautiously leaned out from behind Clark.
"You keep calling us 'Midgardians.' What does that mean?"
Lucas replied,
"In Norse mythology, the universe is divided into Nine Realms. Earth is known as Midgard."
"So when he calls us Midgardians, he just means humans."
Tony and Clark nodded in understanding—but Tony suddenly frowned.
"Wait, Lucas. JARVIS says Norse mythology dates back thousands of years."
"That's true," Lucas said. "But the Asgardians have extremely long lifespans."
"Take Thor, for example. He may look young, but he's already over 1,500 years old."
"What!?"
Tony and Coulson both recoiled instinctively.
Even Clark was stunned.
"1,500 years old?"
"And that's not even impressive by their standards," Lucas continued casually.
"For him, 1,500 years is like a human being thirteen or fourteen—still considered young."
"And the older they get, the stronger they become."
"What the actual hell!?"
Tony and Coulson leaned back again in disbelief. Even Clark was speechless.
Tony swallowed hard.
"Then… Odin must be—"
Lucas glanced at Thor.
"Over 4,000 years old. Right?"
Thor looked at Lucas with newfound respect.
"You understand Asgard well, Midgardian."
Tony frowned.
"Then why is a god on Earth… and arrested—uh, 'invited' here?"
Lucas thought for a moment.
"I can't sense any divine power from him. He must have lost his godhood for some reason."
"That's right!" Thor said angrily.
"My father stripped me of my power! Otherwise, this wretched cage could never hold me!"
Tony raised an eyebrow.
"And why exactly did Odin take your powers away?"
That question clearly struck a nerve. Thor fell silent for a moment before speaking.
"It was because…"
After Thor finished explaining the whole story, Tony and Clark exchanged looks.
Tony then said thoughtfully,
"This sounds like a rebellious kid causing trouble at home, getting his toys confiscated, and being kicked into the backyard to reflect before being allowed back inside."
Clark nodded.
"That's an extremely accurate analogy."
Thor's face darkened, but he endured it and turned toward Lucas.
"They call you 'Lucas,' right? can you help me?"
Lucas pretended to think for a moment.
"Help you retrieve Mjolnir?"
Thor's eyes widened, and he nodded fiercely.
"Yes! My father said that only by lifting Mjolnir again can I return to Asgard!"
Coulson finally spoke up.
"Mjolnir… that's Thor's hammer from Norse mythology, right?"
"You're Thor, there's a hammer… so that means the myths are real?"
Lucas nodded.
"Yes. They're real—but they're essentially powerful extraterrestrials, not true gods."
"Then does Zeus exist too?" Coulson asked.
Thor frowned sharply at him.
"Midgardian, I advise you not to speak that name lightly. Even in distant Indigar, he can sense those who utter his name disrespectfully."
"He is a being my father himself once held in reverence."
