Storm pulled Orian closer and tried to reassure him as best he could but inside Storm was close to panicing.
He knew that Orian wasn't dreaming about the future, he was remembering the past, and Storm wasn't sure if he son would be able to handle it yet.
"You could always leave it be, son... sometimes it's best not to pry further... many people have tried to alter the outcome of their visions, only to bring them to pass." Said Storm.
He hated himself for lying to his son and deliberately keeping him in the dark, but he feared he might lose his son if I didn't.
"I can't do that father! I feel like she needs my help!! And that she is precious to me. As important as mother is to you!" Stated Orian.
"..."
"If it means so much to you, then we should consult with the Grans, they're highly skilled seers and dream weavers.
But I want to be there when they inspect you, to comfort you if need be." Stated Storm.
Orian nodded and together they finally attended the celebration below, Storm stayed in a daze through the entire event though.
Something that the observant Aurora quickly noticed.
"Aren't you enjoying the celebration?" Asked Aurora.
"Hmmm? No, no!! It's great!! I'm just troubled right now." Stated Storm.
"What's wrong, Storm. After you returned with Orian, you both looked like you had seen a ghost? Orian barely said two words throughout the entire event?"
Storm sighed.
"He's beginning to remember, Aurora. "
"Aurora froze."
"It's scattered right now, but it's been coming back to him in the form of dreams every night." Explained Storm.
"Storm!!... The Grans said that..." stated Aurora.
"I know what they said!! I'm taking him to see them at the earliest opportunity!!" Stated Storm.
Orian didn't know this, but this wasn't the first time that these memories had plagued him.
A week after Orian became an adult, Storm and his family woke up to the sound of a distressed dragon's roar. They followed the sound and found that it was Orian that had made the sound.
He was covulsing and babbling words that was difficult to understand, but Storm figured it was related to Mimereus's imprisonment.
Unable to calm him on their own, they called in the Grans who managed to put him into an artificial slumber.
They warned that the memories of his past life was returning, and that he was clearly unable to handle them.
So the next morning they prepared to confront him and help him work through them, but much to their relief, he woke up fine with no memory of what happened the previous night.
The Grans examined him and found that his mind had pushed those memories into his subconscious part.
The Grans warned Storm in private that although this may be helping him at the moment, it was highly dangerous.
If the barrier seperating his conscious from his subconscious were ever destroyed, then the memories would return to commit even greater harm to his mind.
So they told Storm that if he ever showed symptoms again, he should bring him to them immediately for treatment.
While his parents were discussing his fate without him being aware of it, Orian was in a daze as his mind kept returning to his dreams.
As a result he practically jumped out of his skin when Lavender suddenly spoke up beside him.
"Only a year old and already you're so consumed with worldly concerns that you can't even enjoy your first hatching day celebration. "
She eyed him suspiciously as he jumped at the sound of her voice.
"Has work made you this jumpy? I told you to take things easier while you settled into the job!" Stated Lavander.
"No... it's not work..." stated Orian.
"Family then? Did you have a falling out with them?" Asked Lavander.
"No, no! Our bond has never been stronger!" Replied Orian.
"Then what's on your mind?" Asked Lavander.
Orian considered whether he should confide in Lavender, she was the first friend he made when he first went to school and she was far wiser than her young age would normally allow.
But was it fair to her to have her carry this weight with him?
She was still young and shouldn't be worrying about prophecies or destinies at her age.
But he so desperately wanted to air his frustrations and concerns, that against his better judgment, he confessed everything.
Lavender listened without comment as he unpacked all the demons that plagued him almost every night.
Once he was finished, she sat in silence.
"Orian... we've been friends for quite some time now?! Do you trust me?" Asked Lavender.
"Of course I do!! Why would you...?" Asked Orian.
"Then I need you to listen to me! Forget about what you saw! And do not scratch at this again!" Pleaded Lavender.
"Lavender!! I cannot do that!! That figure from my dream needs my help! I might be the only one who..."
"You cannot help this being and nothing good will come from digging up old bones!! Let it go!!" Exclaimed Lavender.
Orian was stunned.
"What do you mean 'old bones'!! What do you know about this!!?" Exclaimed Orian.
Lavender realized immediately that she had misspoken and that she revealed something she shouldn't.
"I... have no idea what you mean..." Stammered Lavender.
"You've never lied to me before!! Don't start now!! It's clear that you know more about this than you're letting on!!" Exclaimed Orian.
"I cannot reveal this to you, Orian! I'm trying to protect you!" Retorted Lavender.
"I don't need protecting!!" Exclaimed Orian.
"From this you do..." responded Lavender.
"Even if I believed you... how am I supposed to forget this if I'm reminded every night?" Asked Orian.
Instead of replying, Lavender reached out and touched him on his shoulder.
A glowing mark formed on the spot she touched before fading away to nothing.
"This will help you suppress your demons.... Goodbye, Orian."
There was something about the way she said farewell that Orian found deeply troubling. It was almost like she wasn't expecting to ever see him again.
"What did you..." asked Orian.
Before he could finish, someone called out.
"Uhhhh... guys.... should the egg be rocking like that?
Everyone looked at the egg on display as a squeaking sound started in the room.
Orian looked back at Lavender, only to find that she had dissappeared while he was distracted.
