Night had fallen. The moon was bright, and the stars were sparse.
After everyone returned home, ate dinner, and finished bathing, it was already getting late.
At around ten-thirty, Caitlyn said goodbye and went home.
Luke planned to go up to the rooftop to look at the night view.
When he reached the rooftop, only a few scattered stars hung in the sky, giving off faint starlight. The moon high above cast down a clean, pale glow, but with no sea of stars to support it, the view could not really be called especially beautiful. Luke quickly lost interest in sightseeing.
He lay down early, planning to go to bed early and wake up early.
Time passed slowly. Soon, it was deep into the night. The mansion at night was completely quiet, and the surrounding area was just as still.
Everyone had entered the land of dreams.
At that moment, a slender figure quietly arrived.
With nimble movements, she climbed up a rope and reached the rooftop without making the slightest sound. Then she calmly stepped forward, heading downstairs from the rooftop. She moved quickly, yet not a single footstep could be heard.
After entering a darker area, she took a glow stick from her pocket and shook it. The glow stick immediately gave off a faint light, barely enough to illuminate the surroundings.
Following her memory from the scouting she had done that afternoon, Jinx quickly found the prince's bedroom.
Once she arrived, the excitement in her eyes shone even brighter.
After asking around, she had learned that this prince really was an incredible figure.
But if she managed to get her hands on the personal belongings of such an incredible figure, would that not prove she was even more incredible?
Jinx liked challenges like this.
The door in front of her was closed, but that was no problem for her.
She took a ball of cotton from her pocket, pulled it apart into fine strands, then stuffed them into the keyhole.
When she had inserted enough, she placed her hand on the doorknob and gently pressed down.
The door opened. The gears inside the lock engaged with one another, yet they did not make a single sound.
However, Jinx did not rush inside. She tilted her head and listened. After confirming that the person in the room was still asleep, she gently pushed the door open and walked in with complete ease.
When doing something like this, the first rule was to be bold but careful. Creeping around too cautiously would only slow things down, increasing the risk of being discovered in the end.
Although she did not often do this kind of thing, Jinx was unusually experienced.
A rich person's bedroom was surprisingly large. A big bed sat near the center, with spacious walkways on both sides. There were wardrobes, bookshelves, desks, cabinets. With the faint light from the glow stick, she roughly analyzed the bedroom's layout.
Then she slowly approached the bed. As the light from the glow stick drew closer, the sleeping man's face on the bed came into view.
Observing him from such a close distance, Jinx could not help muttering inwardly, "He's pretty baby-faced."
But she was not interested in appearances. Compared to the handsome face in front of her, she cared more about where this guy kept his valuable personal belongings.
Once she found them, she would take them back to her secret base.
A valuable personal item belonging to a Demacian prince was destined to make the future Jinx famous throughout Piltover and Zaun. It would become her medal of honor.
Just thinking about it made her excited.
Soon, Jinx moved the glow stick away and began searching the cabinet beside the bed with complete focus, treating the person on the bed as if he did not exist.
Then she searched from left to right, checking step by step.
When it came to trophies, the more the better.
As long as she could carry it, Jinx intended to take it. Just imagining the prince waking up tomorrow morning and seeing his horrified expression after finding his things gone made her look forward to it even more.
It would definitely be fun.
As for the consequences of doing this, Jinx had not considered them at all, nor was she worried.
The ones who should be tearing their hair out were those Piltover people. Jinx did not mind throwing even more trouble their way.
"Huh, where did this guy hide all his treasures?"
After searching for a while and finding nothing, Jinx could not help grumbling to herself. But she refused to give up and continued searching with focus.
Soon, she felt her way over to the clothes rack, and her eyes immediately lit up.
Her instincts told her there had to be good stuff in this guy's pockets.
Just then, the glow stick in her hand suddenly dimmed, and darkness instantly surrounded her. In the blink of an eye, the room became pitch-black, with not the slightest trace of light.
"Damn scammer, selling me fake junk. You're going to regret it when I come back."
Jinx cursed inwardly and gritted her teeth, already thinking about smashing that guy's shop later.
For now, she could only move using her decent night vision.
Coincidentally, at that moment, a kind person beside her handed over a source of light, a liquid illuminator.
It was exactly what she needed.
This kind of liquid illuminator only required the switch to be pressed. Once activated, the liquid inside would glow and produce light.
"Thanks."
Jinx instinctively reached out, even thanking them politely.
But when her hand was halfway out, it suddenly froze, and goosebumps instantly rose all over her body.
Wait.
Where did that person come from?
In the next second, the liquid illuminator was activated, giving off blue light and outlining a gentle, calm face.
With a smile on his face, Luke asked, "What are you looking for? Need some help?"
The moment his words fell, Jinx sprang back like a startled kitten, instantly opening up distance between them. Her petite, pretty face was full of vigilance as she stared at him.
This guy, when had he appeared beside her?
She had not noticed him at all.
In just a single second, her heartbeat suddenly sped up, and she stared at Luke as if facing a great enemy.
Something was wrong. Time to run.
Without the slightest hesitation, Jinx decisively dashed toward the window, planning to break through it and escape.
"You came all this way. Leaving without even saying hello doesn't seem very polite."
Luke's light, drifting voice sounded.
In the next second, his figure had already appeared in front of Jinx and blocked her path.
At this point, Jinx had completely thrown Silco's warning to the back of her mind. Getting away was the most important thing.
Looking at the prince in front of her, she directly threw a punch.
Luke turned sideways and dodged. He was a man with max-level hand-to-hand combat skills, and he immediately returned a move.
Jinx dodged as well and, without backing down at all, threw two more punches. Her fists were extremely fast, and each punch carried a gust of force, like a professional boxer.
But it was not just boxing. She also coordinated it with leg attacks. Her hand-to-hand combat level was actually quite high.
After they exchanged a few moves, Luke blocked one of Jinx's kicks and sent her flying backward.
"This was my escape route all along!"
Jinx used the opening created by the distance between her and Luke. After landing on the ground, she quickly ran toward the door.
After testing him with a few moves, she realized she would not be able to take this prince down quickly.
In that case, Jinx immediately prepared to flee at any moment.
After all, she was not stupid. This was the prince's home, and it was in Piltover's wealthy district. The sounds of fighting would attract other people sooner or later.
By then, she would have no way out.
Jinx thought she would soon be able to shake off the prince and was calculating her next escape route when a figure suddenly appeared in front of her. She ran headfirst into him.
A crisp clang rang out.
Jinx clutched her forehead and sucked in a sharp breath. "You bastard, you even used a frying pan…"
She lifted her eyes in disbelief and saw the prince holding a frying pan upright in front of his chest. She had just slammed into it.
How could anyone keep a frying pan ready in their bedroom?
"As someone who loves cooking, it's perfectly reasonable for me to carry a pan around, isn't it?"
Luke smiled faintly.
"Then don't blame me!"
Jinx's eyes changed, and she exhaled sharply. She was ready to beat this prince up and avenge her forehead.
As she spoke, she threw several punches at him. Her arms looked slender, but the power behind every punch was not weak.
However.
"Clang, clang, clang, clang, clang, clang!"
Every punch was precisely blocked by Luke with the frying pan.
Jinx retreated a few steps, her fists trembling slightly from the pain. Furious, she snapped, "Throw away that stupid pan if you've got the guts!"
Every punch felt like hitting iron.
How could she not be angry?
This time, in order to reduce weight, and because she was confident in her own skills, she had not brought any weapons with her.
But she had never expected that this prince in front of her would actually have some real ability.
"I don't have the guts. Keep going."
Luke had absolutely no intention of putting down the frying pan. He even said rather gentlemanly, "Are you having trouble seeing? You keep punching my pan. I'll turn on the lights for you."
The moment his words fell, Jinx was already so angry she almost coughed up blood.
As Luke turned on the lights, she could see that infuriating, provocative face with perfect clarity.
Unable to tolerate even another second of it, Jinx immediately became even more serious and charged at him with tremendous anger.
"Clang, clang, clang, clang, clang, clang!"
A few seconds later, she backed away several steps, holding back her unwillingness to admit defeat. Her eyes looked as if they were about to spit fire as she stared at Luke, like a tabby cat baring its teeth.
Both of her fists had been punched red by her own strikes. Even kicking him was useless. That guy would still block it with the frying pan.
She could not run either. For some reason, this guy was especially fast.
Damn it. Why was he so hard to deal with?
If this continued, everyone else was going to wake up.
This was one of the rare times Jinx had encountered such a troublesome situation. At this moment, she finally realized that her sudden decision had still been too reckless.
Something was wrong with this prince. Very wrong.
Her instincts had already told her that the guy in front of her was extremely difficult to deal with.
"Want to keep going?"
Luke showed a harmless smile. "Just from the sound, you can tell this is a good pan."
That kind of shameless mockery made anger churn in Jinx's heart.
Right now, she still had a Flame Chompers grenade on her. It was a grenade she had made herself, and it was extremely powerful. It was guaranteed to blow this bedroom apart.
However, there was no doubt that once she threw it, it would bring great disaster upon Zaun.
But if she did not throw one at this guy, she could not vent the rage in her heart.
In the end, Jinx still relied on astonishing willpower and endured it.
Although she usually did things without considering the consequences, that did not mean she did not know what those consequences would be.
Just as Silco had said, the prince in front of her was capable of flattening Zaun.
If Zaun was gone, then everything she had would become meaningless.
But in that case, how was she supposed to break out of this situation?
"Since you're not coming, I guess it's my turn."
While Jinx was still racking her brain for a plan, Luke had already started moving.
He raised the frying pan and swung it at her in a way that looked completely harmless.
Yet this perfectly ordinary attack always managed to land accurately on Jinx.
Sometimes it knocked her on the head. Sometimes it hit her butt. In short, Jinx felt as if she had been completely suppressed and had no power to fight back.
Damn frying pan.
By the time a small bump had been knocked onto her head, her butt was burning with pain.
"Enough!"
She roared, but aside from bluffing, it did nothing. Right after she finished shouting, she took another hit on the butt.
She instantly grew furious, gritted her teeth, and stared coldly at Luke. "Never! Has! Anyone! Dared! To smack my butt like that!"
"Now someone has."
Luke smiled faintly, and this time he used a little more force.
With a clang, the frying pan made a crisp sound. Jinx's butt hurt terribly. She no longer wanted to care about anything and reached into her pocket, only to grab empty air.
"Are you looking for this?"
Luke shook the Flame Chompers grenade in his hand.
Jinx's eyes widened in disbelief. "When did you…"
Damn it. When had this guy taken it?
"It's better not to carry such dangerous objects around. I'll hold on to it for you for now."
Luke examined the Flame Chompers grenade in his hand as he spoke, intending to put it away.
"Give it back!"
Jinx, full of anger, pounced at him.
However, Luke only made a threatening swing with the frying pan in his hand, and she reflexively dodged backward.
It seemed she realized Luke had only been scaring her.
The two looked at each other, and the atmosphere in the air suddenly became awkward.
Jinx felt that all the humiliation of her entire life had happened in this tiny bedroom. Yet at this moment, she felt powerless.
What kind of monster was this prince?
"You should be the one who threw that paper airplane at me, right?"
Luke studied Jinx, who was full of vigilance yet did not dare move recklessly, and smiled. "Now, there are two choices in front of you."
"First, I tie you up myself. The process might be a little painful."
"Second, you tie yourself up and surrender quietly."
Hearing these two options, Jinx immediately sneered. "Keep dreaming. I, Jinx, would rather die than be captured without a fight!"
She had just finished making that heroic declaration when she saw Luke's figure blur.
In the blink of an eye, he was already in front of her, and her pupils immediately shrank.
So fast.
Although she knew this guy was fast, she had not expected him to be so fast that her body could not keep up.
She had already realized that his attack was coming, but she could not react in time at all.
The fist she instinctively swung halfway into the air was firmly gripped by a hand like iron tongs. Immediately afterward, that large hand seized her slender arm, and sharp pain shot through her bones. Then her arm was forcibly pulled behind her back, and the pain intensified at once.
Then came her other hand. Her arm felt as if it had been dislocated, sending out intense pain and causing Jinx to let out a muffled groan.
She felt as if both her arms were no longer hers.
Gritting her teeth and enduring the pain, she racked her brain for a way to counterattack. But every time her body struggled, the pain deepened.
At this moment, both of her arms were firmly locked down, and she had completely lost the ability to fight back.
The next instant, Jinx felt a heavy strike land on the back of her neck. Her consciousness instantly grew hazy, and the scene before her began to blur.
Oh no.
That was her final thought.
