Chapter 114: The Arrogant One
Mythyr continuously avoided and parried. Her body trembled weakly, unable to use her Earth element power anymore.
Kazuka found it hard to move; he had also used a lot of energy in his legs; luckily he didn't use it on his whole body, currently it was only difficulty in moving. Therefore he decided to stand still and create spears in his hand and continuously launch them toward Mythyr. He knew this would be the end; he knew he found it hard to move but also knew Mythyr's current situation.
Lin: "Keep going, she is getting weak."
The entire stands were roaring piercingly. All five friends were standing up, all gripping the stone chair in front and holding tight, eyes following. They understood that this was the opportunity to finish and cheered in their hearts.
Elyssia: "Just a little more."
Airi: "That's right."
Takeshi: "Won..."
Aoto: "Keep it up like that."
Ayaka: "Bring her down."
The person sitting nearby observing all five of Kazuka's friends was burning with impatience. She smiled lightly and turned down to the arena, then stood up and walked away.
Mythyr gritted her teeth; she struggled to swing the energy spear in her hand. She knew well enough what the current situation was; she did not accept it, but what to do when there was nothing left to fight back; she was like an eagle of the sky hunting prey, but now she was the prey.
Boom!!!
The spear Kazuka launched had jamming energy and when Mythyr's energy spear slashed it, it exploded. Black smoke spread out; Mythyr flew out of the smoke and rolled several rounds on the ground. But her stubbornness remained and she struggled to stand up.
Kazuka didn't need to look but only sensed; he launched many spears lunging through the black smoke. Weakly Mythyr gasped and swung the spear in her hand; her heartbeat beat harder and harder.
The first spear lunged and knocked the spear in Mythyr's hand away. Her horrified eyes followed the spear leaving her hand.
Before her, lunging was a rain of Kazuka's energy spears. With eight spears lunging…
Thud!!... Thud!!....
Blood sprayed from her mouth; her body was soaked in blood as she no longer had any strength left to stop the bleeding; blood soaked her shirt. Both eyes opened wide in shock, unreconciled and angry toward Kazuka who was standing behind the fading thin smoke. Her body followed the massive force and flew far away; the energy spears also disappeared from her body.
Mythyr lay on her back on the cold ground with bumpy gravel; her eyes did not close, still open and stiff, her mouth full of blood. The wind blew past, kicking up dust.
The entire stands were silent; no one said a word.
Suddenly, the announcer's voice rang out:
"Sensing weak energy."
"THE WINNER IS... KAZUKA!!!."
The entire stands roared in excitement; the barrier protecting the audience suddenly vanished. Almost all viewers had little sympathy for Mythyr; some roared in celebration, some spat down in contempt and cursed. It seemed Mythyr had caused many troubles, making the people have no sympathy.
Takeshi and Aoto were hugging each other in celebration and shouting:
"Won..."
Ayaka held Airi's hand and raised it as if representing victory and jumped incessantly. Elyssia also smiled; on everyone's mouth was a bright smile.
"We won."
"He won."
Above, Selena looked down with wide eyes, as if frozen. Unmoving, expression staying the same from heavy shock; Selena's teacher had lost, and might even die.
Suddenly remembering, Selena turned and shouted to her subordinates:
"Quickly... Quickly bring the Medics here."
Each place had a different name; some places called them by the old way as "Healers." Some places called them "Medics." Some places "Doctors."
The nobles were the ones currently turning pale, as their city guardian had lost. If so, the city's reputation would surely be unstable and trouble would find its way.
All five, Ayaka, Airi, Elyssia, Aoto, and Takeshi jumped down to the ruined arena and ran to where Kazuka was standing with trembling legs.
Everyone was smiling radiantly.
Takeshi said while laughing:
"Well done."
Ayaka: "Great."
Aoto smirked.
"A convincing victory."
Kazuka forced a smile; his legs trembled and he slumped down. The group was not very worried knowing the battle had ended.
"It really was hard."
Aoto stroked his chin.
"It seems bones and other parts are injured, and currently you find it hard to send energy down to heal."
Takeshi sat down and turned his back, looking back over his shoulder.
"Get on, I'll carry you."
The stands were also empty of people. Selena above looked at Kazuka being carried back by Takeshi; all six people were talking and laughing happily. She didn't know what to do; that was her teacher, but it was also her teacher's match. Mythyr was lying on a stretcher being surrounded and treated by many medics.
Returning to the inn, Aoto was healing Kazuka; a layer of green energy surrounded Kazuka's legs. He had changed into another neat outfit in black.
Everyone stood around and observed.
Takeshi, being talkative, continued to speak:
"Thinking back to when she was hit by those spears, I feel so satisfied."
"The battle was truly good to watch; indeed, practice is always practice while reality is different."
Airi smiled.
"This match was truly intense; I saw she was truly dangerous with that sharp metal-shooting move."
Ayaka heard Airi; she seemed to remember her curiosity:
"Oh right? How did you survive after that strike? Even in the air, you could avoid it. I didn't even have time to see."
Aoto nodded immediately after, his voice curious:
"That's right."
Takeshi nodded reflecting.
"Truly hard to believe."
Kazuka laughed lightly, as if the achievement was not his.
"It was because of Lin; Lin reminded me so I could avoid it."
The whole group went "oh" as if understanding.
Takeshi curious: "So where is Lin?"
Kazuka remembered.
"Lin is sleeping; reminding me throughout the match must have been tiring."
Elyssia propped her hands on her hips.
"Winning is happy enough; luckily nothing happened, otherwise we wouldn't know how to save you."
The whole group frowned as they remembered while watching the match, a girl had threatened them with a massive source of energy.
Airi looked down at her legs as if remembering unforgettable things. It was when her legs seemed to lose all strength.
"That's right."
Takeshi got goosebumps, still finding it very dangerous then, but still curiously asked:
"So who was she? And that energy."
Kazuka tilted his head in confusion, not knowing what everyone was talking about.
"What are you guys saying?"
Aoto, who was healing Kazuka, seemed almost finished; he patiently retold:
"While we watched your match, suddenly a short-haired girl sat in the same row as us. Then she dropped threats to sit still and watch; she had extremely strong energy and pressure; when the match was almost over she left by herself. That's it."
Kazuka listened, but he didn't know how to react; thinking back, it was lucky the whole group was enough, being okay was good.
"Sounds dangerous, but we are still okay, which is lucky."
Elyssia nodded, her face still flashing with a serious look that hadn't faded.
"Surely lucky; she threatened to blow away this city along with us."
Kazuka frowned; he was quite surprised at the retold words.
"That strong?"
Airi shrugged and sighed.
"Surely strong."
Aoto stood up and Kazuka's legs were finished being healed. He exhaled a breath and clapped his hands a few times.
"Finished."
Kazuka looked up.
"Thanks."
Aoto propped his hands on his hips.
"No need."
Airi looked out the small window. The sunset had made the blue-white sky turn orange-red. Like a warm silk ribbon stretching to cover everywhere.
"Almost dark. You guys should rest early; today we eat in the room."
Takeshi nodded confidently.
"Okay."
Ayaka turned over, her voice reproachful, face showing clear discomfort:
"Remember not to make noise like the previous few nights."
Takeshi quickly laughed to evade.
"Don't worry."
Ayaka turned back and waved goodbye.
"See you tomorrow."
Takeshi: "See you tomorrow."
The three girls turned and left. Leaving the three boys. Takeshi jumped onto his middle bed, letting his whole body go loose.
"Truly tired."
Kazuka stood up and walked around the room, as if re-familiarizing his legs after recovery.
Aoto also sat on his bed and turned outside to watch the sky glowing red like a giant red coal.
"Defeating her this time is truly satisfying."
Takeshi turned back and faced the ceiling; he thought of Kazuka's battle, then thought of himself, then thought of Mythyr. His voice was a bit worried and deepened:
"I wonder who is stronger between me and her?"
Kazuka seemed to understand what his friend wanted to say; he laughed lightly.
"Surely you."
Takeshi put his arm over his forehead, sighing full of pensive thoughts.
"Difficult."
Aoto still looked outside, but he still listened to the story.
"A battle is decided by mistakes and plans. So it's hard to say; you don't need to worry either. Maybe today you lose, but tomorrow is not certain."
Kazuka suddenly remembered and opened his eyes wide in panic then spoke loudly:
"Crap, did you guys bring my sword back?"
Aoto and Takeshi also looked blank.
Aoto: "Oh right?"
Kazuka panicked, holding his head.
"It was just lying in the arena."
Takeshi sprang up.
"Then go find it."
Aoto remembered; he sighed helplessly but calmly.
"When we came back, people were cleaning the arena. Most likely someone took your sword away; it's no longer there."
Kazuka was dejected, jumping onto the bed and face-planting into the pillow, his voice muffled and hard to hear:
"Have to buy a sword again? So inconvenient."
Takeshi sighed, trying to encourage Kazuka who was dejected:
"It's okay, winning this match should bring more harvest. Still have money to buy a sword."
Aoto looked outside as the sky had gradually darkened, the glowing red silk ribbon was pulled away and a charcoal-grey silk ribbon was hung up. Looking at the houses following each other from small to large, the treetops far from sight like tiny ink strokes and birds flying in a "V" shape intelligently.
"Generally it's okay, a new sword can be bought."
Kazuka turned back and lay on his back, closing his eyes; he was still a bit bored losing the sword once more, but he was also happy because he had won; his spirit seemed better and he gradually fell into sleep.
