I ran.
Not because I was weak, but because if I stayed any longer, I would have completely shattered right there in front of him, embarrassing myself further.
The stone corridors blurred as I moved, my vision swimming as tears slipped free no matter how hard I tried to hold them back.
Yes, he was the demon lord of this insane world, but that doesn't mean I needed to follow his commands.
I didn't belong to him and so, he had absolutely no right to speak to me the way he had spoken to me.
This would be our first normal conversation and it ended horribly. It was more of a command barked like I was something disposable.
I hadn't expected that type of behavior from him. I knew he was going to have pride given his status here, but the heat he had was beyond pride and it sucked.
I hadn't gone to him demanding promises or binding vows. I hadn't asked for anything.
I only wanted understanding.
