While we were recovering from what we had experienced during our mission in China, on the other side of the ocean, the world remained shaken by the recent attacks. Images of the battle had spread across the planet, stirring fear, uncertainty, and thousands of questions that governments could no longer avoid.
In Mexico, where mysterious aircraft had prevented the invading forces from reaching its shores, one question continued to dominate the news: Where had those aircraft come from?
Mexico City, Mexico.
Thousands of citizens were waiting to hear the president's statement. Uncertainty over what had happened had plunged nearly the entire country into chaos.
At exactly eleven in the morning, the broadcast began in Mexico City.
The president's image could be seen in almost every corner of the country. He greeted the audience and began his statement.
"Citizens, I stand before you today to inform you about a situation that affects not only our nation but the future of all humanity. I understand the concern caused by recent events, and I know you are waiting for answers.
"I know that people throughout the country are already aware of the battle that took place off our Pacific coast, as images and videos of what happened have spread across the internet."
Suddenly, the president's image disappeared, replaced by a video showing enormous vessels appearing off the coast.
The president reappeared in a small window on the screen.
"What you are seeing are the vessels that attacked our shores, but they did not belong to a conventional army. They were part of a force that, until that moment, was unknown to us. And although it may sound unbelievable, according to the information we have received, they belong to a civilization whose history dates back approximately five thousand years.
"Their technology far surpasses our current military capabilities. They possess weapons that our specialists are still struggling to understand.
"I understand that the idea of unknown civilizations is difficult to accept, that all of this sounds like a fairy tale. But what happened off our shores proves that we must reconsider many things we once believed impossible."
The president continued:
"Although we managed to contain the attack, I want to make one thing perfectly clear: this is not over. Their forces withdrew from the battlefield, and we do not know when they will attack again."
He paused briefly before continuing.
"I know what you must be thinking: If they attack us again, how will we defend ourselves when our conventional technology alone is insufficient to confront a threat of this magnitude?
"However, recent events have also demonstrated that there are ways to fight them."
The screens displayed the unknown aircraft that had defended Puerto Chiapas.
"Since that battle, many have wondered what those aircraft were and where they came from."
While the broadcast continued, at the Aguilar family mansion, Victoria, Melissa, and Carlos were discussing whether they should reveal themselves.
"We can still refuse," Melissa commented.
"And let the leaders explain our entire history?" Carlos added.
Victoria remained silent, lost in thought.
"What worries me is what will happen afterward. For generations, we kept our existence a secret. From now on, the entire world will know about us, about the families, and about the uncertain future awaiting all humanity."
"You're right," Melissa said.
"And what happens if they start demanding that we hand over our technology? What do you think the leaders will do?" Carlos asked.
"They'll have to understand that cooperation doesn't mean submission. Besides, let's be realistic. Do you honestly think they're in any position to make demands like that?"
"The government already knows the conditions."
While they were talking, the broadcast was drawing to a close.
"All the information will be presented this weekend. You will be told everything related to what is happening. There will be a worldwide broadcast in which representatives of various organizations will address the public and explain the situation.
"For now, I can tell you that these organizations have remained hidden for centuries. Some are located within our territory, while others exist in different regions of the planet. Their existence was unknown even to the current governments."
"And why did they never reveal their existence?"
"All of that will be explained. For now, that is everything I have to share with you. I wish you all the best."
And with that, the broadcast ended, leaving more questions than answers.
