Chapter 199 - Chapter 199: Bee Poison

"Bee poison" is a transparent liquid with a fragrant smell secreted by Beedrill's Poison Gland. It is stored in the stingers and discharged when attacking with them, causing the opposer to be poisoned.

Compared to Pokémon known for their poison such as Ariados, Drapion, Arbok, and Weezing, Beedrill's poison is still much inferior.

Therefore, generally speaking, Beedrill's poison can only play a supporting role, at least in high-level battles. Pokémon that are poisoned will only experience swelling, pain, and itching throughout their bodies.

When encountering Beedrill in the wilderness, casualties are usually due to its powerful twin stinger attacks. Cases of dying from a Beedrill's poison are extremely rare, and Beedrill does not have much presence among Poison-type Pokémon.

As early as the Weedle stage, Tetsuya had already made it eat Grass/Poison-type Pokémon such as Oddish and Bellsprout. After evolving into Beedrill, the nectar it consumed was also from Gloom or Weepinbell. In fact, this was all to enhance Beedrill's toxicity.

The methods for Beedrill to magnify its toxicity are extremely limited. Unlike Ariados and Drapion that feed on Poison Glands, most Poison-types become their prey. Beedrill only consumes nectar and pollen, so long-term consumption of nectar from these Poison/Grass-type Pokémon can subtly increase its toxicity.

Because this Beedrill hadn't been raised from scratch by Tetsuya, it was unlikely to reach the level of toxicity that his Beedrill had in his previous life. If he wanted to quickly improve its toxicity, he could only take an extreme approach.

The current method was to kill Poison/Grass-type Pokémon and absorb their Poison Gland, but these Pokémon were still needed to provide nectar for Beedrill.

The toxins of other Poison-types conflicted too greatly with Beedrill, and the risk was too high, so he would absolutely not adopt that path.

Therefore, for such an extreme path, he decided to implement it when leaving this island. After all, these Grass-type Pokémon could not be taken away, so they might as well contribute something to him.

Of course, his research on poison was not limited to this. There were two types of plants that could allow Beedrill's toxicity to experience a qualitative leap, namely the Venom Herb and Big Mushroom. The sap of these two plants was also one of Beedrill's favorite foods. The sap of the trees and herbs contained highly potent toxins, especially Venom Herb, which had the reputation of "sealing the throat upon contact with blood".

Once Beedrill incorporated these two toxins into its body, it would become a terrifying Poison-type killer. However, these two trees grew in tropical regions and were only commonly found in Hoenn, the Orange Islands, and Alola. The climate here was more similar to Kanto, so the possibility of these plants appearing was low. Therefore, he could only start from the basics first.

Now the focus of training began to shift toward Beedrill's tail stinger and Poison Gland. Beedrill's Poison Gland was obviously located in the lower part of its body.

What Beedrill was doing was muscle training of the tail stinger and training of contraction and stabbing movements. This set of movements naturally drove the training of Beedrill's lower body and was also very effective for the activity of the Poison Gland.

Some of Beedrill's other powerful moves, such as Poison Jab and Toxic Spikes, were all based on tail stinger attacks, so a strong tail stinger was also a weapon for Beedrill to secure victory.

---◓---

It had already been two months since arriving on Shadow Island, and they were getting closer and closer to the mountains. Before that, Tetsuya thought it was necessary for Beedrill to first learn the move Toxic Spikes.

In his previous life, when using Ariados and Drapion to capture Pokémon in large numbers in the wilderness, he relied on three moves: Toxic Spikes, Venom Drench, and Sticky Web.

Toxic Spikes combined with Venom Drench would be laid over a certain area, with Sticky Web spread across the front.

Toxic Spikes could poison Pokémon, and Venom Drench could reduce the Attack, Special Attack, and Speed of poisoned Pokémon, while Sticky Web would further reduce Speed. Basically, once this set of traps was deployed, Pokémon could barely move. At that point, he could catch them without taking any damage.

Unfortunately, the only move Beedrill could learn was Toxic Spikes. Pokémon like Rhydon had tough bodies and thick hides, making Beedrill's offense quite troublesome. If it could be put into a poisoned state beforehand, that would be ideal.

Tetsuya increased his pace. Now he was moving forward the entire day. Of course, Beedrill also followed behind him, flying while doing contraction training of its tail stinger, so it would not delay Beedrill's training.

At night, it could also integrate previous training. Beedrill was already developing in a more comprehensive direction.

After walking continuously for three days, Beedrill's tail stinger could already release a small patch of Toxic Spikes. Of course, this was far from enough. It could only be said that it had shown signs of learning it. With a few more days of training, it would be able to fully learn it and form a large field of Toxic Spikes.

As they were about to reach the mountains, the forest ahead felt very unusual. Purple gas filled the forest, making it especially eerie and terrifying.

When approaching that strange forest, he found six people sitting outside, sighing. Two of them were even crying.

"We don't have any Antidote left! How can we get through this poisonous miasma forest? Now all our Pokémon are poisoned! Sigh, even if we want to take a detour, it's impossible!"

"If only we hadn't taken a shortcut… We wanted to go to the mountains to catch Rhydon and Rhyhorn, but we ended up like this."

"Now that all our Pokémon are poisoned, whether we can make it back to the camp is uncertain… Are we going to become the first group to be eliminated and thrown into the sea to feed Sharpedo?"

As they spoke, two more people began to cry.

When Tetsuya heard the words "Rhydon," he could already confirm that these six people were from Cherrygrove City. One of them had Quagsire and needed to catch Rhydon for exchange, while the other five had Wooper and needed to catch Rhyhorn for exchange. It seemed their goal was the same as his.

The mountainous area had many Rock- and Ground-type Pokémon. Pokémon like Geodude and Rhyhorn moved in groups. With only Beedrill at hand, even adding Ditto might not give him any advantage, so he had to make use of the strength of these six people.

"Hey! Are you poisoned?"

Tetsuya walked over.

The six people quickly stood up. In the wilderness, casually exposing one's weakness was very dangerous. Although Tetsuya was alone, their Pokémon no longer had the ability to fight.

"W-what poison? …We're perfectly fine!" The six of them forced themselves to say.

Tetsuya did not say much to them.

He took out part of the Antidote from his backpack and threw it to them, saying, "Hurry and use it on your Pokémon. The longer the poison is delayed, the more dangerous it becomes!"

The six people looked at the Antidote in their hands, then looked at the cold-faced Tetsuya…
