Chapter 354 - Chapter 354: Training the Four-headed Weezing

Beedrill's speed and explosive bursts had already reached their limits. More training would bring little benefit. Its main focus now was strength training.

Increased strength meant greater physical Attack. Limited by Beedrill's own natural characteristics, those were the only two aspects he could improve. He was not Giovanni, nor did Tetsuya have the ability to raise a Beedrill as powerful as Giovanni's.

Beedrill had already been with Tetsuya for almost five years…

A Beedrill's lifespan was only about twelve years. By that calculation, almost half of Beedrill's life had already passed. In another two or three years, its condition would inevitably begin to decline.

Eventually, it would reach the end of its life. There was only so much he could do. As for seeking advice from Giovanni…

The thought had never even crossed his mind!

Who was Giovanni? The boss of Team Rocket, the world's greatest underground organization.

Forget himself, Giovanni might not even care about the League Champion. Besides, Tetsuya did not believe such a raising method would ever be passed on to others. The method certainly could not be simple. Otherwise, Team Rocket would have simply raised an entire team of Beedrill to conquer the world instead of Giovanni being the only one with such a Beedrill.

Ever since Houndoom began carrying the King's Rock, its "presence" had become even more imposing. Aside from physical training, Houndoom's current training focused mainly on its Special Attacks.

Previously, the combination of [Blightfire Assault] and [Blazing Howl] had mainly relied on physical attacks. However, Houndoom's Special Attack was actually stronger than its physical Attack. The move Nasty Plot had never truly been put to use, mainly because there had never been a suitable opportunity to use it secretly.

There were many ways to counter boost-type moves like Nasty Plot. Their usage depended on being as veiled as possible. If Nasty Plot were used by itself, the opponent would certainly do everything possible to interrupt it.

Therefore, Tetsuya completely reorganized Houndoom's moveset. What he came up with was the most ordinary move of all: Leer. Many Pokémon were born knowing this move. It intimidated the opponent with a piercing glare, making them fearful and lowering their Defense.

Houndoom's own "kingly" presence, combined with the boost from the King's Rock, made Leer extremely effective at intimidating opponents. Meanwhile, Nasty Plot required concentration and mental focus. Veiling it within the use of Leer could not have been more suitable.

What Tetsuya was now training was the combined use of Leer and Nasty Plot, followed by Special Attack moves.

Miltank only needed to accomplish its own duty. As a full-time support Pokémon, if Helping Hand was used well, it could change the outcome of an entire battle.

The newly hatched Skorupi was still a mischievous little troublemaker. Tetsuya had Ditto keep an eye on it. Skorupi was still in its juvenile stage and had not officially begun training yet, so Tetsuya simply let it run wild. Being active was far better than eating and sleeping without moving.

After some more time, Tetsuya planned to let Skorupi go out and forage for food on its own. Pokéfood was not what it should be eating. Its best food had always been roaming about in the wilderness.

Naturally, Tetsuya's primary training focus was now on the Four-headed Weezing.

The first step was training the coordination between its body and brain.

Under Tetsuya's commands, Weezing constantly changed directions, moving up and down, left and right without stopping. What this tested was Weezing's reaction speed.

In truth, this was something Tetsuya did not need to worry about at all. The four brains of Weezing had already become a single whole, so there were no problems with its thinking or reaction speed.

The main issue was coordinating its body. With four heads, two large and two small, floating in the air, it could easily lose balance and fall because of poor coordination. That was why this required intensive training.

What excited him the most was that two of its heads could use Flamethrower. The tactic of releasing Poison Gas first and then igniting it with Flamethrower could finally be put to the test!

---◓---

Since the forest was filled with trees, Tetsuya did not dare act recklessly.

After finding an open patch of grass, Tetsuya prepared to let Weezing begin its training.

His plan was as follows. First, this combination required Poison Gas of an extremely high concentration. Therefore, only one head would release the Poison Gas, while the other three heads would devote all their efforts to assisting in the use of Poison Gas.

What he wanted was Poison Gas of absolute "purity" and extremely high concentration, at the very least "pure" enough to explode the moment it came into contact with fire.

Once the Poison Gas had been released, it would naturally begin dispersing into the air. If there was any wind, it would disperse even faster. Therefore, the two heads capable of using Icy Wind had to use Icy Wind to enfold the Poison Gas and push it toward the designated location, which in battle would naturally be the opponent's position.

After Icy Wind had enfolded the Poison Gas and pushed it to the designated location, those two heads then had to turn immediately, while Flamethrower had to follow at once. Otherwise, if the Poison Gas dispersed into the air, it might fail to explode at all, or at least fail to achieve the desired power.

Tetsuya explained the core idea behind this combination very clearly. Weezing, with its four brains, truly understood it very quickly.

However, actually putting it into practice proved to be filled with difficulties. Any flaw in any single step would inevitably affect the final result.

After an entire week of training, not a single explosion had occurred. It was easy to imagine just how difficult this combination was.

The first step, concentrating its energy to produce highly concentrated Poison Gas, never presented any problems. After all, it was simply an enhanced version of an ordinary Poison-type move.

The next step was using Icy Wind to enfold the Poison Gas and deliver it to the designated location. It sounded simple, but was extremely difficult in practice.

First, the two heads capable of using Icy Wind had to already be facing the Poison Gas. Otherwise, even turning their heads would waste valuable time, allowing the Poison Gas to become slightly more diluted.

If Icy Wind were used to launch a direct attack, there would be no problem at all. However, using it to enfold Poison Gas was an extremely delicate task. It required exceptional control over airflow, and that alone was already incredibly difficult.

The Four-headed Weezing became completely stuck at this stage. Tetsuya was forced to stop and have it begin training its control over airflow instead. Icy Wind had to rapidly enfold the Poison Gas before pushing it forward. This single step alone took an entire week of practice, and it still could not completely enfold the Poison Gas.

Dominating a move was never something that could be accomplished overnight. Although Tetsuya had a better solution, namely using his psychic powers to cheat by sealing the Poison Gas himself so that it could reliably reach its intended destination, that was ultimately just a shortcut rather than the Four-headed Weezing's true capacity.

Moves had to be dominated one st幼年期ep at a time. Without an attack tactic he could truly trust, he would inevitably lack confidence during battle, and any hesitation would naturally expose an opening.
