Still Adele got her feet under her, using the wall for support, she tried to stand. The wounds on her back pulled and burned with every movement. But her legs gave out immediately.
Kara and Kira burst into laughter. "Look at her!" Kira giggled. "Pathetic. Come on, Princess. Try again. Unless you want to stay down here?"
She forced herself up again, but Kara grabbed Adele's arm, not gently, and started pulling her toward the door on pretext that they didn't have time to waste on such nonsense.
Adele stumbled behind them as the tattered remains of her dress hung off her like rags, barely covering her. Adele's vision was swiming, dark spots dancing at the edges. Don't faint! she told herself.
She could clearly hear the giggles and mocking from Kara and Kira, and they didn't stop until they shoved her inside her room and closed the door behind her firmly.
