"Jiraiya Sensei!"
Naruto found Jiraiya, pointed directly at his stomach, and asked straightforwardly, "Do you know Sealing Techniques? Can you help me unseal the Big Fox inside?"
"Nani?!~"
Upon hearing Naruto's request, Jiraiya sat up abruptly from his half-asleep state, looked at him in shock, and then asked uncertainly, "What did you just say?"
Jiraiya felt like he might still be half-asleep and hallucinating.
Naruto had actually come to him in the middle of the night, asking him to help unseal the Nine-Tailed?
Was he crazy?!
"I said, Jiraiya Sensei, do you know Sealing Techniques? Can you help me unseal the Big Fox inside?" Naruto repeated his previous words with certainty.
"Why are you suddenly making such a request?"
Jiraiya had calmed down. His gaze fixed on Naruto as he probed, "Did the Nine-Tailed tell you to do this?"
"No."
Naruto shook his head and said, "The Big Fox said that with the seal in place, it can only give me a maximum of six tails' worth of Chakra, so I can't perfectly use its Chakra. It also said that because I'm still young and my body is too weak, I can't handle all of its Chakra yet, and told me to wait a few more years."
"But I can't wait. I want to master its Chakra faster, so I came to ask Jiraiya Sensei."
"Oh, I see."
Upon hearing Naruto's words, Jiraiya thought about how the Nine-Tailed had actually told Naruto he was still young, couldn't handle all of its Chakra, and even told him to wait a few more years. It seemed they were getting along well, and the Nine-Tailed was actually concerned about Naruto.
"Naruto, the Nine-Tailed is right."
Jiraiya raised his hand and patted Naruto's shoulder, saying softly, "For you, it's still too early to try and master all of the Nine-Tailed's Chakra. It's better to wait a few more years."
Jiraiya indeed held the sealing key that Naruto's father, Minato Namikaze, had entrusted to him, and he had been instructed to unseal it for Naruto at an appropriate time.
But just as the Nine-Tailed said, Naruto was still too young, and his body simply couldn't handle all of the Nine-Tailed's Chakra. So he could only refuse Naruto's request.
"Jiraiya Sensei!"
Upon hearing Jiraiya's words, Naruto's eyes lit up, and he looked at him excitedly. "So you really can unseal the Big Fox?"
Naruto had originally just wanted to ask and see, but he didn't expect Jiraiya could actually unseal the Nine-Tailed!
"Heh—hahaha!~"
Jiraiya was momentarily stunned by Naruto's question, then laughed it off. "No, the Nine-Tailed's seal was personally set by your father, the Fourth Hokage. How could I possibly unseal it? You misunderstood."
"But isn't my father also your disciple, Jiraiya Sensei?" Naruto asked again.
"While that's true, your father long since surpassed me!"
Jiraiya still wouldn't budge, then continued, "And your father didn't learn his Sealing Technique knowledge from me, but from your mother. Even I don't know the Uzumaki Clan's Sealing Techniques!"
"I see—alright."
Seeing Jiraiya refuse to admit it, Naruto had no choice but to nod helplessly, then asked, "Then when can I unseal the Big Fox?"
"Well—let me think."
Jiraiya stared at Naruto, thought carefully for a while, and then said, "I think, at the very least, you'll have to wait until you're ten years old."
Originally, Jiraiya thought he would have to wait until Naruto was at least fifteen years old before he could give him the key to unseal it.
But with the talent Naruto was currently displaying, he certainly wouldn't need to wait that long. It was just a bit too early right now.
"Ten years old? That's still three years away!" Naruto said with some disappointment.
"Three years?"
Jiraiya heard Naruto's words and said curiously, "Isn't it four years? I remember you're six years old now, right?"
"I'll be seven soon!"
Naruto puffed out his chest proudly. "Next month is my birthday, and after my birthday, I'll be seven!"
"Hold on, isn't your birthday in October?"
Jiraiya paused, then said doubtfully, "Did I remember wrong? Naruto's birthday is Minato and Kushina's—I shouldn't have remembered it wrong!"
"No—I remembered wrong."
Naruto immediately realized he had included the time spent in the virtual world into reality and quickly corrected himself. "My birthday is indeed in October, and it's only May now, so it should be three years and five months until I turn ten."
"Is that so? I knew I couldn't have remembered wrong!"
Jiraiya nodded in satisfaction. Then he said, "So, Naruto, you're not even seven yet, and you're already stronger than most Jonin. There's no need to be so anxious."
"I understand."
Naruto nodded, thinking to himself, My current strength has already surpassed most Jonin?
"So I'm already this strong!"
