~Jade's POV~
Anger surged through me, hard.
A jagged breath pulled me back to the present. I stood by the glass window of our study, staring out as I watched Jade leave the compound alone.
Ares whimpered in my chest. For the first time, I understood exactly what Isadora meant.
That raw feeling of being left behind. Of not being chosen.
The door opened behind me. Xavier and Xander stepped in.
Xander spoke, pacing like a caged predator. "So what now? Are we just supposed to forgive her like nothing happened?"
Xavier said nothing. He had already discarded his suit jacket, leaving his black dress shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbows. He walked over to the mahogany desk, tucking his hands deeply into his pockets.
He looked completely drained as he turned his gaze to me. "Xade."
I arched a brow defensively, crossing my arms over my chest. "Why are you looking at me? You told me to shut up back there, remember?"
