"What did Anfisa do to you? No... why would you let everyone bully you?"
Killian had a tight frown. His jaw was clenched slightly, making him appear rather cold, while inside he was fuming.
Sunlight streamed through the kitchen window, falling on him. His tall frame cast a wide shadow over Severine, almost as if engulfing her whole.
"I don't." Severine sighed.
Her hands kept moving as she made a cup of coffee for Killian, adding milk and then sugar.
"No one bullied me when I was in school. Teachers were fond of me, too."
As someone with top grades, she was well-liked. In the elders' eyes, her unsmiling face was even more endearing. They would often tease her good-naturedly, making her smile shyly.
It was exactly as Andrei had said earlier before leaving. Hardly any other student approached her during her school years. Most kept a polite distance.
