Killian knew him. How could he not?

But why were they talking about him?
He had only asked about Anfisa.
Though confused, he didn't voice his doubts aloud. She was finally willing to speak, and he dared not take a chance.
"Yes, him." Severine's gaze darted toward the wall behind Killian's head. A large painting depicting a snowy landscape hung there.
Her eyes glazed over as she recounted an old tale to him, starting from how Austin entered the Vale Mansion when he was just a little kid.
That winter day was still vivid in her memory.
Severine was eleven then.
They were having a party, celebrating the success of Victor's new venture.
Too many people had gathered in the garden, crowding the place.
As they enjoyed the beautiful view, they praised the lady of the house for her impeccable taste.
