"Severine! Severine!"
Red spurted out from her knees, from her head where she had knocked it on the floor.
Blood had already begun to dry on her eyelashes. Dark crimson patches kept her lovely eyes shut.
"Why?"
Killian's vision blurred.
Dark, misty shadows danced in his periphery as fog swallowed the apartment on 24 Pinster Street.
After a week-long game of hide-and-seek, he had shifted into the unit next door.
It gave him the opportunity to leave food and other necessities at her door, just as Samuel did.
He was careful with his antics, leaving quietly to avoid arousing her suspicion.
Severine hadn't realized that two separate people were watching over her, but Samuel had.
And when he realized it was Killian, he had gotten so angry that he nearly threw a punch at his face.
"It's you! All because of you!" Samuel hissed.
"If not for your fiancée Emily, Severine wouldn't have ended up in this way!"
"What fiancée?"
He never had one.
