Liona's POV
The cool, clear water reached the middle of my thighs, lapping gently against my skin as I stepped backwards.
Aethryx moved toward me without any hurry, his bright golden eyes staying fixed on my face. Every slow step he took sent small, rhythmic ripples across the surface of the grand stone tub.
I kept moving back, my bare feet searching for traction against the smooth underwater stones. One step. Then another. My heart hammered wildly against my ribs, and the air around us felt thick with the scent of wet stone and the intoxicating dragon heat that belonged only to him.
My heel suddenly caught on a raised ridge at the bottom of the tub, and I lost my balance. The cold water rushed up all around me as I tumbled backwards, briefly submerging my hips and waist.
