The heavy wooden window frame creaked softly in the quiet afternoon air.
A tall boy climbed carefully through the opening, balancing his long legs on the sill before stepping inside. His hair was pure white, contrasting sharply against his bronze skin. A pair of small dragon horns poked gently out from near his hairline, and a faint, shimmering tattoo coiled around the side of his neck like a sleeping serpent. His wide hazel eyes scanned the dark corners of the grand bedroom with cautious curiosity.
He landed on the polished floorboards with barely a sound, moving with quiet, deliberate grace. He paused, taking a moment to adjust his tunic while looking around the room to make sure he was alone.
A firm hand tapped him right on the shoulder.
The boy spun around instantly, his breath catching in his chest as his eyes flared with surprise.
