The thing about second pregnancies is you already know what's coming.
First time around I'd been terrified. Every twinge meant miscarriage. Every weird symptom meant something was horribly wrong. I'd Googled until three am and convinced myself I had seventeen different complications.
This time I was like yeah, my boobs hurt and I want to murder everyone, sounds about right.
Damian thought it was hilarious.
"You're so calm." He said it on a Tuesday morning while I was eating peanut butter straight from the jar. With a spoon. Standing at the kitchen counter. "With Isla you cried when your favorite jeans didn't fit."
"With Isla I didn't know my body was going to turn into a balloon and then go back to normal." I pointed the peanut butter spoon at him. "This time I know the jeans will fit again. Eventually. So I'm just enjoying the excuse to eat whatever I want."
"You're eating peanut butter for breakfast."
