[ELARA'S POV]
We celebrated by going back to work.
Sounds boring. But after weeks of lockdown, of fear, of living like prisoners, just walking into my office felt like freedom.
Sarah had kept things running. Perfectly. We'd even gained two new clients during the chaos. Small ones. But still. Growth.
"You're back!" She hugged me. "Really back? Not just checking in?"
"Really back. Cross is in prison. The Volkovs are done. We're safe."
"Thank god." She pulled back. "I was starting to think I'd be running this place solo forever."
"You did amazing. Seriously. I owe you."
"You owe me a raise and a vacation." But she was smiling. "But yeah. I did okay."
"Better than okay." I looked around. The office was buzzing. People working. Phones ringing. Life happening. "You kept us alive."
"We kept us alive. Together." She squeezed my hand. "Now let's get back to building this empire."
