[ELARA'S POV]
Induction day arrived with perfect timing.
Two days after Dominic was arrested. Thirty-nine weeks exactly. Dr. Chen had scheduled it for eight am.
"Ready?" Damian asked. We were in the car. Driving to the hospital. Marguerite had all three kids. Patricia helping.
"As ready as I'll ever be to push out a ten-pound baby."
"Dr. Chen said nine pounds."
"That was last week. Baby's still growing." I shifted. Uncomfortable. "I'm huge. This kid is huge. This is going to be terrible."
"You've done this three times. You're a pro."
"That doesn't make it hurt less."
"Fair point." He squeezed my hand. "But at least after today we're done. No more pregnancies. No more babies. Family complete."
"Thank god." I meant it. Four kids was enough. More than enough. "After this I'm getting my tubes tied."
"We could just rely on condoms. Or I could get a vasectomy."
"You'd do that?"
"Yeah. Four kids is our limit. Makes sense to make it permanent."
