Six months after Claire was born and we'd found our rhythm.
Emma handled nights. Patricia handled days. Marguerite visited weekly. We had a cleaning service. A meal service. Help for everything.
And it was working. The kids were thriving. The companies were growing. We were sleeping. Actually sleeping.
"This is sustainable." I said one morning. Making coffee while Damian fed Claire. "We're actually doing this."
"Told you we'd figure it out."
"You also told me four kids would be fine. And it was hell for three months."
"But now it's fine. So I was right. Just on a delayed timeline."
I laughed. Kissed him. "You're impossible."
"You love it."
"I do." I looked around. Isla was eating breakfast. Big Julian was playing with trucks. Alexander was attempting to feed himself. Yogurt everywhere. Claire was content in Damian's arms. "Look at us. We're functioning."
"We're thriving." He corrected. "Huge difference."
