"Then…why aren't you?" Alexis again repeated her script from the reunion party. Just like that time when he told her what he wanted to do and she would urge him why he doesn't do whatever he wants to only to run away from him later. "Because you're a gentleman?"
Arthur shook his head. "Because you will run away."
There was something about that line that dripped with melancholy. As if he has been through this for a long time. As if she has tried to run away from him for a very long time. Not that she can deny that she did run away from him once, that's something she can be held accountable for.
She knew her words were not going to be enough given how confused she always seemed about starting something new. So she decided to rely on her actions this time.
She closed the last bit of space between them and touched his lips with hers voluntarily this time with a sweet little peck.
