Elara suddenly chuckled, shaking her head before letting out a long sigh. She looked at Lyra for a moment with a strange expression.
"Are you so sure that's all I want?" Elara asked with a smile. Lyra froze, her brow furrowing as she tried to understand what Elara meant. "Do you really think I'm the same person I was? Do you think I'm still the woman who could easily let you go now?"
Lyra's mind went blank. This was different. The woman standing in front of her wasn't the Elara she used to know. This version of her was unpredictable and terrifying, and it left Lyra completely confused. Elara's eyes drifted down to Lyra's stomach once more.
"Lyra, don't you realize you're hurting the baby by not eating?" she said thoughtfully. Lyra clenched her fists at her sides, her heart hammering against her ribs. Elara let out a low laugh, but her eyes turned ice-cold. She began to balance the steak knife between her fingers.
