Ming spoke directly, without any preamble.
"I believe you've already guessed who I am."
"Yes," Nina replied calmly. "May I ask why you came to see me?"
Ming hesitated briefly. A trace of apology appeared on his face.
"I… have come to cancel the engagement," he said. "I'm very sorry. It was our side that failed to keep our promise. If you want compensation, you may ask for anything. As long as it's within my ability, I will do my best to fulfill it."
This was the first time in his life that he had broken a promise, and the guilt weighed heavily on him.
