"She said that when you seek answers, the god who will help you is your mentor." Deon patted her head gently, a warm, fatherly smile on his lips. "I believe you can trust him."
Kelsey shuddered at the thought of coming face-to-face with her sadistic mentor. She glanced at Hayleen as if seeking confirmation, and the answer exceeded her expectations.
"I just realized," Hayleen said slowly. "The god who convinced the others to keep using your name—that was your master."
"A god who convinced other gods? What does that mean?"
Kelsey briefly explained Hayleen's vision on the day of their awakening.
