"Who knows?"
She returned the stones and elixirs to her storage bracelet, then rested her head against Luca's chest, chuckling softly.
"What is it?" he asked, curious as to why she was chuckling.
"I just remembered. Your mother once begged my father to act as her father. Doesn't that technically make me your aunt?"
Luca cleared his throat slightly. "In the end, my father-in-law never formally acknowledged her, and he only treated my mother as an acquaintance. You're still my wife." He nibbled on her earlobe, making her laugh. "Anyway, try another energy stone. Perhaps death energy simply isn't compatible with you."
"I've tested all twelve elemental stones, and none reacted. And what do you mean, death isn't compatible with me? I was trained to become the Master of Death." She traced lazy circles on his abdomen with her finger. "The god clan is convinced I'll become the Goddess of Death."
