A soft, satisfied laugh reached me from across the room, and when I turned, I found Loretta leaning back in her chair with a grin that made everything clear.
The rest of the staff kept their eyes glued to their laptops, their silence louder than any reaction they could have given.
"You did this, didn't you?" I asked as I began walking towards her.
"Do you have proof?" she replied, rising to her feet with a smirk that only deepened.
"I don't need proof to know the kind of spoiled brat you are," I said, my voice steady but edged. "Only you would waste your time playing such childish games, so tell me, how old are you… five?"
Her expression snapped instantly.
"And how dare you speak to the daughter of the owner of this company that way?" she shot back, her voice rising. "Who the hell do you think you are?"
I let out a quiet breath, but I didn't step back.
