Chapter 59 - 059 Walpurgis

On average, the Tensura Demon Lords are a selfish lot. They rarely hesitate to sacrifice anything—or anyone—to satisfy their own ego.

The most recent example of this was the Clayman incident. The man had orchestrated countless atrocities from behind the scenes, all for the sake of resurrecting the Demon Lord Kazalim. Ultimately, however, Clayman's schemes crumbled, and he was completely annihilated by the rising star, Rimuru Tempest.

Walpurgis concluded with Rimuru's overwhelming victory, leading to the formation of a new council of Demon Lords: the Octagram.

Normally, it is a monumental task to gather these figures in one place, especially since less than a month had passed since the last assembly. But because this was an urgent summons from the oldest Demon Lord, Guy Crimson, the others had no choice but to attend.

...

The eight Demon Lords sat around a large circular table while their subordinates stood dutifully behind them.

Rimuru arrived with Diablo and Benimaru.

Luminous was accompanied by Hinata and Gunther.

Milim brought the former Demon Lords, Karion and Frey.

Guy sat with Velzard, while the rest remained as they were before.

"Ara~ so you are Demon Lord Rimuru?" Velzard offered a gentle smile as she greeted him.

"Mm, my name is Rimuru Tempest."

"Hmm..." Velzard's gaze swept across the room as if she were looking for someone. "Is Veldora not coming?"

"I asked him to guard the Jura Forest, so he won't be coming."

Velzard blinked her ice-blue eyes. "Being able to put my little brother to work... you truly are no ordinary Demon Lord." Her tone was soft, yet it was enough to make the hair on the back of someone's neck stand on end.

"Ehem! Guy, why did you suddenly call a Walpurgis?"

"There's no need to rush. Just enjoy chatting with my partner for a bit."

Rimuru's eye twitched. He wanted to complain, but he didn't quite have the guts to openly provoke a True Dragon and the oldest Demon Lord at the same time.

"Rimuru-sama is a busy man. It would be best to commence this meeting immediately!" Diablo intervened, bluntly scolding Guy.

"..." Guy fell silent, looking visibly annoyed, though he refrained from responding to Diablo's provocation.

'Good call bringing Diablo,' Rimuru thought to himself.

Guy took a deep breath and looked directly at Dino. "Dino, tell them about your experience on the 'other side.'"

"Eh! Why me?"

"You're the one who lived through it, so you can tell it better than I can."

It was a flimsy excuse; Guy was simply too lazy to do the talking himself. As everyone's gaze shifted toward Dino, he scratched the back of his head with a look of utter helplessness.

"Fine, what choice do I have?"

Dino began recounting his experiences in the DxD World to the assembled Demon Lords. His story was frequently interrupted by curious questions, but after nearly half an hour, he finally finished the briefing.

"You were beaten to a pulp by a human from the other side? That sounds like a bad joke," Rimuru remarked, sounding genuinely surprised.

"That man wasn't a normal human. He's an existence that transcends even an Awakened Demon Lord in our world," Dino defended himself.

"..." A heavy silence fell over the room as the Demon Lords processed Dino's words.

"Dino, you said there are not just Demon Lords, but actual Gods in that world?" Rimuru asked tentatively.

Dino nodded with a serious expression. "I couldn't explore much beyond the Underworld, but I encountered a Seraph and an Old God from Norse mythology. If I remember correctly, his name was—"

"Odin?" Rimuru cut in.

Dino froze, then nodded solemnly.

"You know something?" Luminous turned her sharp gaze toward Rimuru.

"In my previous world, there were many myths about gods. One of the most famous was Norse mythology, led by the All-Father, Odin," Rimuru explained casually.

"If he's called the 'Father of the Gods,' does that mean he's incredibly powerful?" Dagruel asked doubtfully.

"Yeah. He looks like a somewhat wise old man, but his strength is nothing to scoff at," Dino added earnestly.

"Hmm, I understand the situation. Now, what are we supposed to do about it?" Leon asked flatly.

"It's not a major issue. We just need to receive the guests who will be sent from the other side. That is, if you all give your permission," Dino replied softly.

Leon narrowed his eyes, staring straight at Guy. "After causing trouble over there, we can't exactly turn them away," Leon remarked sarcastically.

Guy simply shrugged. "I'll admit I was wrong. I was the one who sent Dino there in the first place."

"Guy, why did you make a decision like that? It's not like you," Leon asked, puzzled.

"The power of that god named Loki was significant. Moreover, he was so silver-tongued that he managed to pull me into his scheme."

"Loki? You did business with Loki?" Rimuru's voice turned sharp.

"Mm. You know about him too?"

"I don't know the specifics of that version, but in Norse mythology, Loki is known as the God of Deception. If he was able to influence you, his level of cunning must be off the charts."

Guy didn't deny it. Loki's power level was high, even if it was still far below his own. Even so, Guy had to admit he had been swayed by the god's words.

"I see now. Loki took advantage of me because I underestimated him. He certainly earns the title of 'God of Deception.'" Guy smirked, and a terrifying aura began to bleed from his body, shaking the room and causing the walls to crack in several places.

"...So, what's the verdict?" Guy asked after calming his aura.

"I don't think it's a problem," Rimuru answered, followed by the rest of the Demon Lords.
