Scarlett POV
I sat on the couch staring at the clock. It's getting late, and Xavier is not yet back. I am really getting scared.
I ordered pizza but barely touched it due to the uneasy feeling inside me, even though I was damn hungry.
Food has to wait.
I held onto my tattered phone. The screen was terribly broken, and I dialed Xavier's number. My finger hung on the answer button, and I hesitated to press it.
What if he's being tracked and is hiding? The thought popped in, and I froze.
Or what if he needs help?
My head spun as different possibilities kept popping up. I tossed the phone aside and buried my face in my palms, then slowly swept my fingers into my hair, my face still down.
Oh Xavier, please come back, it's really getting late. I can hardly see any light from the tick dark woods.
The doorbell suddenly rang, and I jerked up, almost on my feet. I ran to the door without thinking twice and yanked it open.
