Chapter 59 - THE LAST HUMAN THING

Sienna jerked, choking as breath rushed back into her lungs. Her head pounded instantly. For one confused second she thought she was still in the tunnel.

Then she tried to move. Her wrists were tied behind a metal chair so tightly her hands had gone numb. Her ankles were strapped to the chair legs, another band crossed her waist, pinning her in place.

The room smelled like bleach, metal and something burnt.

Bright white lights glared overhead.

"No…" she whispered.

She looked around wildly. Concrete walls, steel tables lined with instruments, monitors flickering with green lines, cabinets full of syringes and trays.

And beside her, built into the wall was a reinforced cell. Inside it, crouched in the far corner, was the creature.

Its wrists were locked in restraints attached to chains bolted into the floor. A thick collar ringed its neck, dried blood covered one shoulder. Fresh dart wounds marked its side.
