Chapter 299 - Chapter 299 Always silently protecting him from behind

In fact, Quill not only sent the coordinates to Darian but also synchronized them with his adoptive father, Yondu.

Calling him an adoptive father was a stretch; in reality, Yondu had forcibly taken him from Earth onto a spaceship when he was a child. It was a case of kidnapping masquerading as adoption, making him one of the true cases of an Alien kidnapping an Earthling.

Precisely because the unauthorized kidnapping of a child violated the iron law of the Raiders, Yondu was directly expelled from the Raiders and forced to set up his own faction. Later, he did manage to make quite a name for himself in the Universe.

However, Quill didn't want to stay in Yondu's crew from the bottom of his heart. He tried every possible way to run away and strike out on his own, which led to the later encounter with Darian in Vanaheim.

Striking out on his own wasn't the problem; the issue was that Quill intercepted the order for the Cosmic Orb that Yondu had accepted. This enraged Yondu so much that he issued a wanted poster across the Universe to capture him, determined to let him experience what "fatherly love is like a mountain collapsing and the Earth splitting."

Quill knew well that his group had decent strength, decent dance moves, and, of course, himself—a handsome and intelligent wise leader. The entire team was a force not to be underestimated in the Universe.

But ultimately, they were at a disadvantage in numbers and certainly couldn't go head-to-head against the massive Necrocorps.

Just at this moment, he couldn't get in touch with Darian, the powerful backer he was relying on.

Consequently, Quill simply came up with a devious plan to "drive the wolf to swallow the tiger," directly exposing his coordinates to Yondu and summoning the other party's Raiders crew as reinforcements.

It must be said, it was truly worthy of his system's rating of "father-killer."

"Quill, you son of a dog... pfft, son of a handsome guy!"

Yondu looked at the circle of Necro-soldiers staring fixedly at him and cursed through gritted teeth.

He certainly knew that Quill was being hunted by the Necrocorps. He had originally intended only to fish the kid out and then turn around and slip away; he had no desire to get involved in this mess with Ronan.

But after that shout Quill let out earlier, the attention of the Necrocorps was entirely fixed on him. Now, he didn't even have a chance to run.

At this point, how could he not understand that he had fallen for the trap of that little brat Quill and was being used as a gun?

Quill was still there, howling at the top of his lungs: "Dad! They're the ones bullying me, hurry up and avenge me!"

Seeing this, Drax widened his round eyes, looking shocked: "This blue guy is actually Quill's dad? They don't look alike at all, and even their colors are different."

Rocket rolled his eyes: "They are definitely not biologically related."

"Are you saying Quill's dad got cheated on?"

"That's not what I meant... alright, I won't rule out that possibility."

"I am Groot."

The group seemed to have forgotten their surroundings and started discussing whether Yondu had been cheated on.

Yondu: "..."

How did this kid Quill manage to find such a bunch of weirdos in a Universe full of talent?

"Shut up! Who is your dad! To think you'd actually call someone Dad just to save your life!"

Yondu kicked Quill, sending him sprawling on his back, while cursing under his breath. He immediately turned and squeezed out a fake smile at the Necro-soldiers.

"Everyone, don't misunderstand. I'm just passing by and I'm not familiar with these people at all. This idiot is a wanted criminal I'm here to capture. I'll drag him away right now. You all go about your business, don't mind me."

As he spoke, he grabbed Quill by the back of his collar and dragged him toward his spaceship.

But he had only taken two steps before the energy guns of all the surrounding Necro-soldiers were instantly aimed at him.

The Necro-officer standing at the front took a step forward and said coldly: "I know you, Yondu Udonta, the castaway of the Raiders. My Lord Ronan has ordered that not a single one of these people is to be released. You can either leave immediately with your men or stay and be their accomplice."

Yondu certainly couldn't just leave like that.

No matter how much of a pain in the neck Quill was, he had raised him by hand. How could he watch him be taken away by the Necrocorps?

He released his grip on Quill's collar and, without saying another word, began to whistle.

Necro-soldiers: "?"

They had the leisure to whistle in such a tense situation? Was he that arrogant?

The next moment, they saw an arrow slowly floating up from Yondu's waist, its tip flashing with a dazzling red light.

Whistle—!

The whistling from Yondu's mouth suddenly rose in pitch, and the arrow shot out like lightning, instantly piercing the skull of a Necro-soldier directly in front of him.

Before the other Necro-soldiers could react, the arrow had already traced an incredibly tricky arc in mid-air, turning and plunging into the chest of another Necro-soldier.

In the blink of an eye, over a dozen Necro-soldiers fell to the ground one after another, all of them having their vital spots pierced by the arrow, lifeless.

This was Yondu's signature weapon, a whistle-arrow made of Yaka metal, driven by sound and his head fin, with attack power and speed maxed out.

"Fire! Everyone, open fire!!"

The Necro-officer was shocked and immediately roared the order.

The surrounding Necro-soldiers immediately pulled their triggers to counterattack, and the dense hail of energy projectiles forced Yondu and Quill back behind cover.

But soon, the Raiders who had come with Yondu rushed out from the spaceship, raising their guns to engage in a fierce shootout with the Necro-soldiers.

As Yondu's Raiders team entered the fray, the scene became even more chaotic, with fire and explosions everywhere.

The whistling from Yondu's mouth never stopped for a second.

The Yaka arrow shuttled back and forth across the battlefield, and every time it swept past, it was guaranteed to take a life.

But no matter how fast Yondu cleared the fodder, he couldn't handle the sheer number of the Necrocorps. It was as if they were endless; one batch fell, and new Necro-soldiers immediately replaced them.

Yondu's mouth was dry from whistling, and the people around him were almost wetting themselves from the sound, yet the number of the Necrocorps hadn't decreased at all.

Quill crouched beside him, clutching his head, firing his element gun every now and then, and shouted: "If we keep dragging this out, once the main force of the Necrocorps arrives, we're all going to be done for here!"

"You still have the nerve to speak?"

Yondu was so angry his face turned green, and he cursed: "If it weren't for the mess you caused, I'd be lying in my spaceship drinking right now! When this is over, I'm going to tie you to the outside of the ship and let you taste what space drifting is like!"

Quill shouted anxiously: "Stop yelling! Hurry up and get reinforcements!"

"Where the hell am I supposed to find reinforcements for you!"

"The Raiders!"

"I was kicked out of them long ago! Those bastards have surely forgotten all about me!"

In the time it took for the father and son to bicker, the Necrocorps members gathered in greater numbers.

The Raiders Yondu brought were beaten back step by step, forced to desperately shrink behind cover.

What was even worse was that the airspace above was already surrounded by Necro-ships. Their cannons were glowing with a blinding red light, charging up frantically, clearly about to unleash a wave of firepower.

Boom!!

A deafening explosion erupted.

But it was the charging Necro-ships that were blown apart in mid-air.

Everyone looked up to see that, high in the sky, a dense swarm of ravager ships was breaking through the air, unleashing a crazy volley against the Necro-ships.

The Necrocorps, which had been holding the winning hand, instantly lost their footing, caught off guard. One after another, the Necro-ships exploded into fireworks in mid-air, trailing thick black smoke as they crashed toward the ground.

Yondu was stunned, standing in place, the whistling in his mouth stopping.

He stared fixedly at those familiar Raiders paint jobs in the sky, his voice trembling, unable to hide the excitement on his face.

"I knew it! They definitely haven't forgotten me!"

Quill: "..."

That's not what you said just a moment ago.

As the ravager ships attacked the Necrocorps, their cabin doors opened simultaneously.

Then, silver-gray figures were seen leaping from the cabins, free-falling through the air, and crashing heavily onto the ground.

Looking around, they were all metal robots over two meters tall, their cold electronic eyes devoid of any emotion. Just standing there, they exuded a sense of overwhelming oppression.

Without a word, they raised their arms, which instantly transformed into high-speed rotating gatling guns.

Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat—!

Runes appeared on the gun bodies, and countless magic bullets poured out, riddling the surrounding Necro-soldiers with holes like a sieve.

The equipment of these Necro-soldiers wasn't bad, but no matter how good it was, it couldn't compare to the Sentinel Robots. If they couldn't even withstand the magic bullets that the Sentinel Robots could tank, they certainly couldn't withstand them.

Under the cover fire of the Ultron Robot, the Necrocorps suffered heavy casualties instantly.

The Necro-soldiers hurriedly raised their guns to counterattack, but the surface metal of the Ultron Robot immediately shifted into various forms, and the energy projectiles caused basically no damage when they hit them.

This also allowed Ultron to detect that the opponents were all fodder with no threat. The Ultron Robot immediately entered power-saving mode, retracted the gatling guns, changed its hands into sharp blades, and rushed into the pile of Necro-soldiers to begin "mowing the lawn."

Wherever they passed, Necro-soldiers fell in swathes, without even the ability to resist.

"What are these things?"

Not to mention the Galaxy crew of idiots, even Yondu, a former Raider, was dumbfounded.

When did they, the Raiders, become so badass?

Just then, a huge ravager ship landed steadily in front of them, and the cabin door opened slowly.

Darian walked out of the cabin, accompanied by a few Ultron Robots, just like personal bodyguards.

The group from the Galaxy crew of idiots' eyes lit up, and just as they were about to speak, Yondu rushed up first, his expression excited and complicated.

"I never expected you all to come and save me."

Darian: "?"

Who the hell are you?

Yondu had clearly misunderstood.

After all, except for some large-scale events, it was impossible to gather so many ravager ships at once, so it was impossible for them to have just happened to pass by this battlefield.

In his view, these ravager ships were all here specifically to help him.

They couldn't possibly be here to help that bunch of idiots led by Quill, could they?

Yondu looked at Darian, who had the air of a leader, his voice trembling: "I've been away from the Raiders for so many years, and you're still willing to help me like this. I really..."

Even a tough guy like Yondu couldn't help but choke up a little.

Darian raised an eyebrow: "You are a Raider?"

As soon as these words came out, the light in Yondu's eyes instantly dimmed, his tone filled with an unconcealable sense of loneliness.

"I understand. I haven't been a Raider for a long time now. But I have never forgotten the glory of the Raiders. I only hope that one day I can return to the Raiders, wear the flame emblem again, hear the horn of freedom after I die, and let the colors of Ogor shine on my grave."

Darian didn't know what to say: "Uh, well, good luck with that."

"Really?"

Hearing this, Yondu immediately perked up, taking it as a hint that he had hope of returning.

He couldn't suppress the excitement in his heart, and looking at Darian, he said excitedly: "Thank you so much! By the way, may I ask your name?"

"Just call me Darian."

"Hello, Darian."

Yondu reached out to shake Darian's hand, his tone exceptionally friendly: "You look a bit unfamiliar. You must be a brother who joined the Raiders after I left the group, right?"

Darian shook his head: "Oh no, I am a Loot-Looter."

Yondu was stunned for a moment, then laughed: "Why are you stuttering?"

Darian also laughed: "No stuttering. I am the leader of the Loot-Looters. Our main business is specifically to loot those Raiders."

"Nice"

The smile on Yondu's face instantly froze, and he was left dumbfounded on the spot.

A golden desert eagle appeared out of thin air in Darian's hand, pressed against his forehead: "Since you are a Raider, that's great. Please obediently hand over all your valuable things."

Yondu: "..."

He suddenly remembered the news he had heard before. A while ago, many Raiders squads had gone missing in Vanaheim. It was said that they had been wiped out, along with their ships, by something called the Loot-Looters.

He had thought it was just another piece of fake news to generate traffic and didn't take it seriously at all.

But now...

Yondu looked at the dense swarm of ravager ships in the sky and only then realized it belatedly.

That news might actually be true!

Yondu's expression changed drastically, but with a gun barrel pressed against his forehead, he dared not move his mouth to control the flying arrow.

He could only desperately wink at Quill, signaling the kid to find a chance to sneak attack Darian.

However, he blinked until his eyes were cramping, but Quill never reacted at all, as if he couldn't see him.

Darian chuckled: "Stop blinking. Quill is also a member of our Loot-Looters. I was able to loot so many ravager ships, and he deserves a lot of credit for that."

Yondu: "..."

Facing the murderous look Yondu was giving him, Quill could only awkwardly chuckle.

He was forced into it; it was a matter of emergency self-preservation.

If he had another chance... well, he would still do it.

No choice, Darian was paying way too much.

Yondu couldn't care about the gun barrel at his head and roared at Quill: "I raised you for nothing for so many years! You actually betrayed the Raiders and went to team up with others to deal with us! Have you forgotten whose food you ate to grow up!?"

Quill didn't back down, arguing back with his neck stiff: "If you hadn't kidnapped me from Earth back then, I'd still be on Earth eating burgers and drinking cola! Besides, you were kicked out of the Raiders long ago. We weren't legitimate Raiders to begin with, so how is this betrayal!"

"If it weren't for my protection back then, you would have been eaten by my men long ago!"

"Bullshit, they don't eat people at all!"

"But they like men!"

"..."

Quill suddenly felt his nose go sour, very moved. It turned out that Yondu had always been silently protecting him from behind.

Oh no, he had always been silently protecting his back.
