After Voren's arrival, Liah was in tears, her body shaking with silent sobs as she clutched Corvine's hand. "Corvine, Voren is here, but I think the Lycans are here too." Her voice was barely a whisper, cracking with desperation.
She knew Corvine could not hear her, but she could only spurt her fears and desperation into the empty air, hoping somehow he would sense her presence.
However, Corvine heard a voice in his subconscious mind, sharp, commanding, utterly unfamiliar. 'Wake up, you dickhead.'
That should be Corvine's wolf, but the voice sounded different. It was deeper, rougher, carrying an edge of impatience. 'Mad, what happened to your voice?' Corvine asked, confusion clouding his thoughts.
The wolf sneered, a sound that was almost amused. 'Maddock didn't want to let go. But after what you've been through, and knowing the Lycans are after you, he finally let me in. He refused to say goodbye.'
