Chapter 111 - Chapter 111: A New Journey Begins

As long as Dratini left, it would have a brighter future.

Though reluctant, Dragonair knew she had to choose the better path for her child.

After giving Dratini one final push toward Sam, Dragonair slowly sank beneath the lake's surface and disappeared.

Sam gently held the crying Dratini in his arms.

"When you grow stronger," he said softly, "we'll come back to see your mother."

---

Pokémon: Dratini

Type: Dragon

Ability: Shed Skin (May cure its own status conditions by shedding its skin.)

Strength: Mid-Level (Ordinary Tier)

Potential: Champion

---

After this trip to the Wild Wilderness Area near Fuchsia City, Sam's team had expanded dramatically.

With the addition of Dratini and Gyarados, his roster now consisted of nine Pokémon:

Tyranitar (Champion – Beginner Tier)

Gengar (Elite – Mid Tier)

Scyther (Elite – Beginner Tier)

Venusaur (Gym – Mid Tier)

Clefable (Gym – Beginner Tier)

Charmeleon (Elite – Advanced Tier)

Lapras (Elite Tier)

Gyarados (Elite – Beginner Tier)

Dratini (Ordinary – Mid Tier)

It was simply too many for him to manage alone.

Some Pokémon would need to be sent to Professor Oak for proper care and training.

---

After saying goodbye to Ash, Misty, and Brock, Sam left the wilderness and headed to the nearest Pokémon Center.

He placed a video call.

"Professor Oak, I'd like to send a few Pokémon to your research center."

At that moment, Professor Oak was eating dinner—instant noodles steaming in a bowl.

He swallowed quickly and smiled.

"No problem! Caught something new?"

"Yes. Dratini and Gyarados."

"Gya—what?! Dratini?!" Professor Oak nearly choked in excitement.

After recovering, he leaned closer to the screen.

"Where did you find Dratini?"

"The Wild Wilderness Area near Fuchsia City."

Professor Oak's eyes lit up.

"So the rumors were true… There really is a Dratini habitat there."

After calming down, he continued:

"Sam, could you also send Venusaur and Scyther over? I'm currently conducting research that requires their assistance."

"No problem."

Sam originally only planned to send Gyarados, but since Professor Oak needed help, he agreed immediately.

Just as he was preparing the transfer—

Gengar suddenly appeared in front of him, grinning.

"Kou jie!"

Sam understood instantly.

"You want to go back too? Train for a while?"

Gengar nodded enthusiastically.

After witnessing battles like Mewtwo and Deoxys, and fighting powerful opponents itself, Gengar had realized its own shortcomings. It planned to train at the lab and absorb the energy within its Mega Evolution Stone before returning stronger.

How could Sam refuse such motivation?

In the end, he sent four Pokémon to the lab:

Gengar

Gyarados

Venusaur

Scyther

With four gone at once, his team suddenly felt much smaller.

Fortunately, Tyranitar remained.

Otherwise, Sam would practically be a rookie trainer again.

After all, without Tyranitar, his strongest available Pokémon was Clefable at Gym Beginner level.

That would make future battles much harder.

---

It was late.

After everything that had happened in the wilderness, Sam was exhausted.

He booked a room at the Pokémon Center and quickly fell asleep.

---

Early the next morning—

His phone rang.

Half-awake, Sam answered with a yawn.

"Professor Oak… what's going on?"

"Something important."

Sam immediately sat up.

"A Gym inspection?" he repeated.

After listening carefully, he finally understood.

Since his next destination was Dark City, Professor Oak hoped Sam would evaluate the two local gyms.

Both Kaz Gym and Yas Gym were applying to become official League-recognized gyms.

The Pokémon League wanted a reliable judgment.

Professor Oak trusted Sam.

If Sam believed one was qualified, the League would seriously consider it.

Sam recalled the situation.

The two gyms were bitter rivals.

Instead of strengthening Dark City, their constant battles had nearly ruined it. Street fights between their trainers had made local residents miserable.

Based on what he remembered, neither gym seemed worthy.

But reality might differ from rumor.

He would need to see things for himself before making a final decision.

---

"Chirp!"

"Chirp!"

"Chirp!"

Dratini's cheerful cries echoed from outside.

In the Pokémon Center pool, Dratini and Lapras were playing happily together.

Though Dratini missed its mother deeply, it was still young.

And children recover quickly.

Lapras was about the same age, and both loved swimming.

With shared interests and similar personalities, the two young Pokémon had become inseparable in just a few days.

Watching them, Sam smiled slightly.

A new journey awaited.

And this time—

It would lead to Dark City.
