First Class guests had their own exclusive passage, and a polite attendant was waiting there as they entered the ship's interior from the deck.
Sen Getsusa took out her ticket and, under the attendant's meaningful gaze, followed him to a... suite.
That's right, a suite.
"This is one of the most luxurious rooms on this liner, and historically, the most luxurious suite ever on a sea vessel." The attendant proudly led the two to the First Class section; their room was located deeper inside.
Inside, there were three bedrooms, two walk-in closets, a private bathroom, countless gilded ornaments, and high-quality red-and-black lined sheep's wool carpets that felt soft underfoot.
The furniture was all polished brightly. From small items like handkerchiefs, lighters, pens, and candlesticks, to large pieces like sofas, dressing tables, and dining tables, everything was neatly and orderly arranged.
In this era, it could be considered extremely meticulous.
Walking further into the room, past the floor-to-ceiling windows, was a huge platform.
The platform was decorated with green plants and received ample sunlight, making one feel as if they were in a garden. Stepping onto it, it was so stable that the movement of the ship was barely noticeable.
The spacious area, comfortable furniture... everything reflected elegance and nobility.
Sen Getsusa stepped barefoot onto the carpet. The attendant accompanying her cautiously glanced twice, quickly averted his gaze, and softly inquired, "Is there anything else you require?"
"Hey! How are we supposed to sleep?"
Jack's shout came from the next room. Sen Getsusa smiled and dismissed the attendant: "I will call for you if I need anything else. Thank you."
The girl picked up her small leather bag, pulled out a few banknotes, and handed them to him.
The satisfied man bowed and backed out.
"How are we supposed to sleep?!"
Jack stared blankly at the suite's beds and private washrooms.
Although he and Sen Getsusa had known each other for a while, their relationship was definitely not close enough to live in the same room and share a bathroom.
Moreover, even if he were willing, Sen Getsusa wouldn't be.
"You can sleep on the deck and see if Mr. Karl will hang you on a fishhook. Maybe after crossing the Atlantic Ocean, you can open a fishery in New York."
Jack took a deep breath: "I am raising a very urgent problem that needs to be solved right now. You can wait a moment before mocking me. Don't worry, the ship is moving, and I can't swim."
Sen Getsusa curled her lip: "There's a public lounge on the ship. Good luck, Mr. Hanhan."
Jack's mouth fell open: "You mean, I should go stay in the public lounge?"
"Otherwise, should I go?" Sen Getsusa tilted her head and looked at him.
The man entered the room muttering to himself. Sen Getsusa opened her door, intending to find a steward to ask for directions, only to find the curly-haired Boy from the railing earlier standing expressionlessly next to her room.
His father was not there.
"Hi?"
The girl gave a smile and crouched down in front of the Boy: "Where is your father?"
The Boy looked at Sen Getsusa.
"You're very beautiful," he said.
The Boy's expressionless face suddenly became vivid, his eyes staring straight at the beauty mark at the corner of Sen Getsusa's eye.
"So beautiful, Big Sister. I imagine many people have told you that already?"
Sen Getsusa raised her head proudly: "Of course. Hey, you're not bad either. When you grow up, you'll be a little handsome guy."
The Boy shook his head: "I have self-awareness. Are you worried I'm lost?"
He pointed behind him.
"My father's room and mine are right here. I just don't want to go in."
Sen Getsusa looked at the door curiously—he lived right next door to her.
Seeing Sen Getsusa's confusion, the Boy showed a rare shy expression and pulled the girl a few steps to the side.
"The reason is, he's always bringing strange people back," he gestured awkwardly. "You know, there are some things children aren't allowed to encounter or know about—though I've heard the noises long ago..."
Sen Getsusa:...This... The young girl subconsciously pulled the Boy another two steps further away.
"Staying here is because I'm afraid that by the time I go back, his head will have vanished, along with his suitcase and the valuables on him."
Sen Getsusa patted the Boy's head and teased: "You're afraid someone is after his money and life? Is your father very rich?"
"In these times, who can say for sure."
This seven or eight-year-old Boy with a very youthful face made a very mature expression.
He looked at Sen Getsusa, his tone carrying a warning: "He is very rich, but he's a Grandet. If you're thinking of attaching yourself to him to get his property, I advise you to give up on that idea."
"He even skimps on the money he gives to those women."
The Boy's 'I don't think much of you' attitude made Sen Getsusa curious.
She wondered what kind of living environment could make a seven or eight-year-old Boy, who should be at an innocent yet annoying age, become so mature and polite.
"Is that so? Then forget it. If I'm going to attach myself to someone, I should find someone more generous, right?" The girl winked at him, but the Boy didn't buy it, pointing at Sen Getsusa's earring.
"Liar. Are you teasing a Child? Just this earring alone could allow a person to live comfortably for several years, not to mention your expensive outfit."
Using meticulous logic, the Boy quickly judged Sen Getsusa's identity: "You're a thief, aren't you?"
Sen Getsusa:... "You and that blond man who's always grinning like a fool are clearly not siblings or in any other kind of intimate relationship.
Yet you're staying in a suite?
From this, it's clear the invitation was stolen by you.
And for that purpose, you stole a set of clothes too."
"That man might not have noticed it himself, but his gait is definitely not that of someone who wears leather shoes and suits year-round.
In other words, this is his first or second time wearing such an outfit."
"Not to mention his bumpkin-like expression."
The Boy shrugged and added: "I have no discrimination against bumpkins; the above remarks only represent my view of you two."
After listening to the Boy's long speech, Sen Getsusa stood up, shook out her skirt, and then paced in front of his father's door, not refuting his claims about her identity.
"Are you just going to wait here like a fool?" Sen Getsusa pointed to the end of the hallway: "How about we go get something to eat?"
The Boy was tempted; he looked at the door, then back at Sen Getsusa.
"If your dad can't find you, won't he—?"
"He often can't find me."
The Boy reached out a chubby little hand toward Sen Getsusa: "Let me introduce myself. Howard Stark, eight years old."
The girl crouched down again, extending her slender palm to shake his.
"My name is Sen Getsusa, or you can call me Big Sister or something."
Sen Getsusa winked at him: "Also, I'm not a thief. I'm a mage traveling all over the place."
"What is a Planeswalker?"
"A mysterious creature."
"How mysterious?"
"As mysterious as a girl's age."
Their voices faded as the pair, one big and one small, disappeared at the end of the hallway.
