Chapter 108 - Chapter 25: London Fog Bane

[Name: —]

[Sorcerer Supreme: a title signifying honor and duty.]

[Years ago on Earth there was a great conclave of mages.]

[Ancient One defeated every mage who attended, thereby claiming the title of Sorcerer Supreme.]

[For centuries she and the mages dwelling in the Sanctum have upheld the mystic array, guarding the hidden side of Earth and repeatedly turning away those who covet this World.]

Reading the words on the curtain, Sen Getsusa finally exhaled in relief.

She chewed the candy and continued scrolling.

[Note: the other party has withdrawn her biological field and mystic barrier.]

[Abilities:

[Invisibility] [Energy Projection] [Phasing] [Longevity] [Illusion] [Flight] [Hypnosis] [Shield] [Alchemy] [Telekinesis] [Teleportation] [Mass Cross-Dimensional Transit] [Summoning] [Dimensional Spell Borrowing]... and well over a hundred more.

"Quite a lot, right? All skills I've learned over the years." Across from her, Ancient One winked slyly.

She was fiddling with a phone she'd produced from nowhere, inside which a shooter game ran.

The handset looked modern, its back printed with a certain fruit logo.

No case—definitely a cultist... Seeing that, Sen Getsusa understood everything.

"You're not from this timeline."

Ancient One blasted a camper hiding round the corner, not even glancing up. "I belong here; this plane is my native plane. Of course, I come from a future timeline."

"Your cross-dimensional travel was completely unshielded; every high-order being in the plane could sense the ripples as you tore space open."

She swapped guns, scoped in, and crouched stealthily behind a crate.

"A newborn Planeswalker is extremely fragile; you must be extra careful."

Bang.

Even as she spoke, a grenade dropping from above ended the round.

The mage, frustrated at losing to the computer, locked her phone.

"Of course, I specifically came to find you."

Sen Getsusa made a gesture of listening, waiting for the eccentric lady to speak.

She said, "No, not now. I will come again in three days. That will be the time for you to make your decision."

Ancient One stood up, straightened her yellow robe, her eyes filled with admiration.

She took her phone, handed the house key to Sen Getsusa, and said amidst the girl's puzzled expression, "You can stay here. I have another appointment."

She winked her right eye at the girl, pushed open the door, and walked out.

So mysterious... Sen Getsusa pouted as she closed the door, found a mirror in the room, and with a wave of her hand, an antique courtyard appeared in the mirror. "I can have them spread out on the ship to monitor that mage."

Arrietty sat in her exclusive seat—Sen Getsusa's shoulder—eating nuts while listening to Sen Getsusa recount what had just happened.

Kina was on the cold side, her feet resting on Sen Getsusa's collarbone, disagreeing with her leader's words.

"There are only a dozen of us, and it's not an assassination. It's not enough for surveillance."

She didn't have her iron hammer, wearing shorts and a small vest, comfortably leaning back. "Besides, Her Majesty the Queen said that mage is very powerful, so it's better not to provoke her."

Arrietty looked at Sen Getsusa, who nodded in agreement. "She probably doesn't have any ill intentions, but in three days... what will happen?"

The female knight pouted, "She's being deliberately mysterious. It can't be that this ship will sink, can it?"

Kina: "That's not impossible."

Sen Getsusa put the two girls down, then tapped the mirror again, letting the other Little Sprites come out to play.

"Don't get lost, I'm going to see Jack."

After instructing Arrietty to watch them, Sen Getsusa opened the room door and turned right into Jack's room.

To prevent Jack from having any peculiar habits like Howard's father, Sen Getsusa specifically paused at the door, patiently knocking several times.

No one answered.

The girl took out the key and opened the door.

Inside, smoke billowed, a hazy white mist, as if one were in a hot spring.

"Cough, cough... cough, Jack? Jack Dawson?"

Sen Getsusa kept waving her hands to fan the air; the dense smell of smoke was both nauseating and pungent.

In the suite, Jack was wearing a white shirt with a golden fountain pen tucked into his chest pocket.

He swayed, biting on a cigar butt, and extended his hand to Sen Getsusa with a pained expression.

"What are you doing?" Sen Getsusa frowned, pinched the cigar, opened the window, and threw it out.

A fierce sea breeze instantly poured in, dispersing the smoke and waking up the groggy Mr. Hanhan.

He retched a few times, gestured with his hand, pushed Sen Getsusa aside, and stumbled towards the washroom.

Ugh—!

The girl noticed a cedar wood box on the table; pushing open the lid, she saw seven or eight large-ring brown cigars inside, and under the table lamp, a brand new cigar cutter, seemingly just unsealed.

"Don't tell me you smoked that thing like a cigarette?"

Sen Getsusa stood with her arms crossed by the washroom door. In front of her, Jack was bent over, intimately hugging the toilet and throwing up profusely.

The girl opened all the room doors, allowing the sea breeze from outside to flow through the entire lounge.

"Ye... Yes. Ugh—"

Sen Getsusa had never seen anyone more troublesome than herself.

"The person who gave you the cigar, didn't they tell you how to smoke it?"

"Ugh... I, I... Fuxk, that's disgusting!"

Jack turned his head, his face pale. He took the tissue Sen Getsusa handed him and wiped his mouth. "If I asked, wouldn't it expose that it was my first time smoking it?"

"You're not supposed to inhale it into your lungs." Sen Getsusa sighed helplessly. "You made the room like a hot spring; I thought there was a fire. Don't try those things, Mr. Hanhan, why are you so hard on your own mouth?"

Jack stood up, leaning against the wall, his head still feeling dizzy.

Sen Getsusa actually admired him.

She noticed that the cigar had almost burned down to its end—

Which meant that her dear Mr. Jack had, puff by puff, inhaled the entire cigar into his lungs and let it circulate.

"You should go to London and help them deal with the exhaust gas from the dense smoke. It should earn you more than gambling, and be more satisfying than smoking cigars."

The girl teased, pouring him a cup of tea. "Mr. Jack Dawson, the bane of London fog."

Jack made a bitter face, constantly pressing his temples, his left hand on his chest, breathing hard. "I feel like I almost died."

"Anyway, you're uncomfortable unless you cause some trouble."

Sen Getsusa placed the room key on the table. "I'm staying in the room next door; you don't need to go to the common lounge."

She briefly told Jack about Ancient One, of course, only describing her as a kind and good lady traveling alone.
