Chapter 118 - Chapter 116

"Ah!!!"

A scream echoed from behind her. Remedios cut down a Goatman and sharply turned her head.

One of the Holy Knight squad members, who was fighting demi-humans in a narrow gap, was pinned down by a fallen, large Ogre. He was then immediately grabbed.

Two Ogres, one in front and one behind, tore the squad member in half, emitting a tragic wail in the night.

But this was war. The other Holy Knights did not flinch. Instead, they continued to swing their longswords, skillfully dodging the Ogres' heavy blows, and then used 'Holy Strike' to attack their legs.

Most demi-human races almost entirely possessed negative karma. Attacks imbued with holy power would cause special damage to them.

However, the surrounding demi-humans were too numerous.

A Holy Knight fiercely slashed an Ogre's ankle. The Ogre immediately let out a painful howl, stumbled, and fell to the ground.

The Holy Knight was pleased that his attack was effective, but he did not realize that his own position was not safe. Behind him was no longer a reliable teammate but the Demi-human Army, and the enemy was already very close to him.

A Goatman, moving on its two goat legs, wielded an iron sword and charged towards the Holy Knight.

Normally, demi-humans of the Abelion Hills could only obtain iron weapons through two means. One was to trade with Dark Dwarves, exchanging demi-human slaves for materials. The second was to raid the Holy Kingdom and acquire it through war. However, neither method yielded many iron weapons, so in the Demi-human Tribes, soldiers with iron weapons were generally more elite.

The faint sound of the Goatman's charge immediately caught the Holy Knight's attention, but by the time he turned around, the longsword was already cleaving towards his face.

"Oh no!"

The Holy Knight thought something was amiss and, in a hurry, could only raise his arm to block.

A cruel smile appeared on the Goatman's face, as if he would cut down the human in the next moment.

"Buzz!"

A violent tremor echoed through the air, but amid the intense battle, with shouts and cries, hardly anyone noticed it.

An arrow pierced through the air, directly shooting through the Goatman's brain from the eye socket. The powerful force instantly knocked him to the ground.

The Holy Knight looked in the direction the arrow came from and saw Pavel standing on the broken city wall, slowly drawing his bow.

"Fire!"

Pavel shot another arrow, rescuing another Holy Knight who had no time to defend, and simultaneously gave a loud command.

The archers on the city wall near the gap immediately obeyed his command, raining down a barrage of arrows to relieve the pressure on the Holy Knights.

After safely sending the Commander back, Pavel immediately reascended the undamaged part of the city wall, because he knew that as an archer, he could only exert his maximum effect from a high position.

Moreover, the city wall also needed a Commander to lead the soldiers in resisting the Demi-human Army's attack.

The Great Wall was too long; even the section guarded by the Central Stronghold could not be destroyed by mere meteorites. Besides the critical gaps that needed focused defense, other parts of the Demi-human Army were also attempting to scale the city wall to open other passages.

The moment Pavel was seen, this news quickly spread along the entire city wall. The soldiers immediately gained a backbone and began to attack the demi-humans according to their training.

Remedios, sensing that the Great Wall's defense was recovering, did not linger in battle and began to retreat towards the city wall.

Of course, the defensive position she chose was naturally the gap where the Holy Knights were, the only breakthrough point on the entire city wall at the moment.

Just as she cut down a demi-human with a single sword, a faint sense of danger surged in her heart. She sharply turned around and saw a tall, four-legged beast charging towards her.

With a swing of his massive battle-axe, the demi-human in his way was directly swatted aside. Wei Jie grinned, his sharp fangs looking terrifying.

Fleeing was impossible. Even a warrior like Remedios could not outrun the demi-human before her.

Turning one's back to an enemy in battle was a foolish act. Remedios did not hesitate and likewise charged towards the opponent.

The two quickly entered each other's attack range. Wei Jie's massive axe came down heavily towards her, and Remedios likewise swung her longsword to strike the opponent.

The massive axe and the holy sword clashed in mid-air, producing a loud sound. An invisible aura caused the surrounding demi-humans to scatter.

"The legendary Holy Sword wielder, let me see how capable you are!"

Wei Jie said with a sneer, pressing down hard on his weapon with both hands. Because he was much taller than Remedios, he could look down on the human.

Remedios held the Holy Sword with both hands, trembling as sparks flew from the friction between the blade and the axe head.

This demi-human was stronger than her in terms of pure strength. This was not an unexpected situation.

Remedios tilted the Holy Sword in her hand, allowing Wei Jie's massive axe to slide along the blade, breaking free from the grappling suppression, and then leaped to the side.

Wei Jie, of course, would not let her escape. He immediately took two steps forward, sweeping his massive axe horizontally.

If it were an ordinary person, they would probably be cut in half by this fast and heavy attack, but Remedios lunged towards him, skillfully ducking under the sweeping, massive axe, closing the distance to Wei Jie's front.

The inertia of a weapon like a massive axe was immense. For a moment, Wei Jie could not quickly retract it.

Remedios gripped the hilt of the Holy Sword with both hands and thrust it with all her might towards Wei Jie's face, directly using the martial art 'Hard Strike' to enhance it.

Seeing that he had no time to dodge, Wei Jie made a decisive move, releasing one of his hands gripping the massive axe.

Martial Art: Fortress!

Blood spurted. Wei Jie's right forearm was cut by the Holy Sword, but it also blocked the attack, preventing the Holy Sword from advancing further.

Failing in one strike, Remedios wanted to retreat, but it seemed a little too late. She felt a burning pain in her left calf, and the sound of metal scraping reached her ears.

As a four-legged beast, Wei Jie could stand very steadily even on three legs. His right front leg swept directly, and his sharp claws cut through Remedios's greave, leaving three deep claw marks.

Remedios immediately retreated, the injury to her calf directly making her stance unstable.

"Damn it!"

This was just an ordinary greave; its defensive capability was naturally not as good as the enchanted armor she used before. Otherwise, even if she were injured, it would not be this severe.

Remedios gritted her teeth, and Lock's figure flashed through her mind. Could that hateful man still cause her trouble even after he was dead!?
