Present Day
On the day of the Nasiru Desert Race, the city came alive.
Street vendors replaced their stalls with moveable carts that weaved through the throngs of bodies lining the ramparts of the walls, the gates to the city, and the borders surrounding the track across the red desert.
Each and every citizen attended the race, from spectators, to sellers, to those who ran the event itself, from announcers to administration staff.
Kai paused to give his bike an affectionate pat as he wheeled it through the square; gloriously completed, with its perfect chrome base, the four perfectly matching wheels - courtesy of Uriel's involvement - and the sleek, wide handles.
He had repurposed the thick leather armour; dark brown pieces that covered his elbows, chest and shins that overlayed his tan hiking gear and robust leather combat-style boots.
