When the night fell, Kai crept down the stairs, wincing at every creak and groan, his heart hammering in his chest.
'What am I doing? What the hell am I doing?'
As soon as they had finished dinner, he had spent close to an hour in the bathroom, scrubbing every inch of his skin in an attempt to calm his nerves.
It was an odd sensation for him. Kai had never felt nervous before any of his past encounters with women throughout his first life, and yet, now he felt as though a thousand wings were fluttering in his stomach and his hand just wouldn't stop shaking when he raised it to push aside the heavy curtain.
He clenched and unclenched it as he hesitated, taking a deep, steadying breath and rolling his shoulders.
'You can do this. It's just Rami. Rami, Rami, Rami...'
He narrowed his bright, hazel eyes with fierce determination and pulled back the curtain.
